That one hits hard for me because it was almost literally the case in a session a few weeks ago. A major plot-point of the campaign (an adaptation of Rime of the Frostmaiden) was the entire region in which the campaign takes place being dragged into a demiplane (actually a Domain of Dread) in a massive night-time light show that left the PCs staring up at an alien sky - different constellations, new nebulae, even a completely different moon in the sky.

And... I guess I got the broad strokes of it across, but telling it was nowhere even close to how it played out in my head.

Yeah... It's a post-war setting, but it's a pulp adventure setting. Nothing grimdark about that.

Hell, most of the villains have actual motivations and personality, which is the exact opposite of grimdark.

Regarding Anakin and Padme...

True story, my first date with my wife I asked her to come see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (the 1990 one). She stood me up lol
