By the way timespike, what a lot of Modern stuff! I'm going to have to start filling in some of those gaps myself, I can see this.
And most of it is PDFs, so it doesn't even tax my shelf space!
Well, here's what I've found the top 5 products or lines out of that collection. Note that all WotC product is excluded from consideration for this list by virtue of being "core" (and really, the SRD & Apocalypse would be enough, though there's nice stuff in past & cyberscape).
5. RPG Objects' Darwin's World Core Book. If you are doing post-apocalyptic d20 Modern-based roleplaying, GET THIS. You will thank me later.
4. Malladin's Gate's Martial Avengers. Tons and tons and TONS of options for strong & fast heroes and every possible multiclass thereof. Multiclass advanced classes and talent trees in particular are nice. Now if they'd just get around to releasing the rest of the series...
3. The Game Mechanics' Modern Player's Companion & Future Player's Companion. These really should be considered core, even though they aren't. It's the designers of the core products given the opportunity to do more of the same, and the time and aggravation things like class progressions and equipment packages will save you is unreal.
2. Big Finger Games' Versatile hero (and, to a lesser extent, the other Postmodern product: Traits & Flaws. This allows for an almost GURPS-like level of character customization, and it's CHEAP.)
1. Sword's Edge Publishing's Roles & Classes line. I just wish they'd released it sooner, like back when I was doing the initial planning for my game. I've retrofitted NPCs to make use of the material in this line. The Covert, Capable, and Combat heroes are NOT to be missed.
Lines worth chasing:
Blood Books (RPG Objects)
Postmodern (Big Finger Games)
Roles & Classes (Sword's Edge)
Darwin's World (RPG Objects)
PolyMecha (LPJ Design)
I'd also Heartily reccomend almost all of the Ronin Arts products I have, though they defy categorization into either of these lists.
