It's about bloody time. Standardization is good, especially when running massive multiplayer tabletop campaigns with interactive components such as the RPGA's Living campaigns.

I disagree. While d20 is, on the whole, good, there are loads of excellent, non-d20, systems that the RPGA should cover. However, I'm reminded of the situation the UK had in the late '80s when Games Workshop decided that it's magazine was only going to cover it's products. It was good for the company, but bad for originality. I can see the same happening again, this time with role playing as a whole - not just the UK market.

Corinth - what on earth are you talking about? Are you trying to say that Living Seattle is somehow going to crossover with Living Greyhawk??

How on earth does standardisation between two different game worlds make a difference?

Personally I joined the RPGA several years ago at GenCon UK in Loughbourgh, I then renewed my membership (for 3 years) at GenCon UK in Manchester.

Most of the RPGA tournament games I've played in or run have not been D&D, most have been CoC (Chaosiums version), Cyberpunk or Feng Shui.

Since signing up for 3yrs to the RPGA, the following has happened.

RPGA stopped producing Polyhedron UK, and instead went to a joint magazine with the USA, which obviously focused more on the US game scene and D&D.

The RPGA although promising to continue providing Polyhedron to old guild level members when it merged with Dungeon did nothing of the sort and now over a year (and several email) has passed without me seeing a single copy owed to me.

RPGA UK has been disbanded.

GenCon UK has been cancelled to become GenCon Europe.

Polyhedron has stopped supporting anything other than WotC products.

If you ask me the RPGA does nothing to support gamers, and just supports WotC. It use to be a great organisation in the UK and now it is nothing.

No, I'm saying that all RPGA Living campaigns will use the same game engine (d20) and that this is a good thing.

Because it makes it so much easier for people who play any d20 game to get into any Living campaign because they already know most of the rules. It's not about the worlds; it's about managing massive multiplayer tabletop RPG campaigns in the most effective manner possible, and anything that works towards that goal is a Very Good Thing. I hope that other organizations follow suit.

Actually I believe Virtual Seattle is getting phased out for the end of the year if not before. At least that's what I've heard on the RPGA boards.
