Another wave from the printer or warehouse must be moving through distribution. Amazon is no lomger out of stock but the earliest delivery is a week out. Wonder how long those are going to last.

Ran this Saturday for nine.

I was really skeptical about the initiative system but I'm completely sold now. In fact I think it broke me for anything else. Only one person played it before, they ran it and def didn't understand it. I had a couple few who've read the rules and were familiar enough to make characters at the start, pre-gens for everyone else. I had one player that had never played an RPG before and he dove right in and was a joy to run for. This whole group was great!

A couple few are going on to run it themselves and I need to run it again. I'm sold.

That's awesome.

Can you talk more about your experience with the initiative system? So far that's the biggest hang up for me. I know you said you dug it, but were there any hiccups or tweaks you made to it? How'd you keep anyone from dominating or Homering themselves into the shrubbery? Did you use RAW or the spotlight tracker?

I just (ending 3.5 hours ago) ran my second session. We played VOIP, TOTM last night.
I'm using the 3 actions per round option (corebook, p 89, left column, callout box "spotlight tracker")
The flow of the fights is largely me asking, "So, who's next?" with players self policing on 3 spotlights in the round. When all three said, "Yeah, I've had my 3" I declare the new round.
I'm usually only spotlighting adversaries on rolls with fear. But when the adversary is motivated, or the players take more than 30 seconds, I drop a fear and spotlight an adversary.
There was one golden opportunity... but it was handled as a "yeah, both of you crit... max damage each" because it was a wraith being hugged and using it to zipyank her friend out of body rather than feed on her. It felt right for the story. And to the player.

It's a scary prospect to some, but it works rather well. One of the points I did an immediate interrupt was when the war wizard's damage ward was triggered. I immediately spent a fear and had him reset.

My usually quiet player has been much more proactive than in normal initiative systems.
