How tight is the game in its balance/encounters/math?

Closer to 5e 'loose' or PF2 'tight' or 'balance what?' OSR?
IME significantly better than any non-4e iteration of D&D because everyone gets the same number of abilities as they level up; there isn't really a Linear Fighter/Quadratic Wizard situation.

But that doesn't mean some lines aren't sharper than others or that balance is the biggest priority. Start with "tighter than 5.24 (let alone 5e Classic and the original monk), looser than PF2e".

And remember the biggest trap in Daggerheart building is to not balance your resources.
