Daggerheart General Thread [+]

I'm using Miro. It's definitely more of a Virtual Table Top vs a set of automated digital tools but I like that tbh - seeing all the character sheets at once at all times is really fun, having an easy way to draw/drop/collate images and inspirations is a delight.

I haven't read the whole thread....who is playing on a VTT, and what are your thoughts? I am not sure I want to enter a lot of data into Foundry, but I read the roll20 (which I don['t use as it's generally not great) implementation is not good....
I thought it wasn't Roll20 based, but Demiplane/Nexus. Or is that just the digital reading platform?

I finally got Daggerheart yesterday. I ordered it last week when it was available again on the EU shop. It came in on Saturday morning, but I was not home because my partner and I had just left to visit their family. So I was only able to pick it up yesterday. I still have to work through Dragonbane, but hopefully I can get Daggerheart on the table soon.

I ran my first session last week, after a session zero previously.
Everyone seems to get it straight away and generated lots hope to power stuff
Good amount of narration from the players to fill in detail as they travelled
2 combats, 1 countdown and baby step progress to some of their major goals
Very good indeed

Pretty much that right there.

The roll20 one is... meh.

I feel for the Demiplane folks. They have a nice looking suite of tools, and they got bought by folks who dial it in.

Foundry and the SRD is going to become an issue and Darrington is going to eventually need to get pressured to step up and work out something official. Mostly likely with Foundryborne.

The Foundryborne devs took 2 months to build something which is already leagues ahead of the roll20 option, without any help or official access, and all while for half that time they had no idea if they were legally allowed to ever do anything with it.

Likewise for the 'Unofficial DH' project - way past what roll20 has, in much shorter time.

The roll20 guys have had a contract since sometime back in beta and still can't even manage to connect it to their 3D dice roller or handle any automation. But I think that's maybe the norm there?

As a total aside, yesterday I learned that if I add a very detailed backstory into demiplane on my iPhone, when I open up my browser on my PC it deletes it and replaces it with the blank entry that was in my tab from the day before, and that live saves, but for some reason saves before checking if there is a pull from the database for what was on my phone. However my phone does pull - so opening it on my PC erased what was on my phone.

That at least won't happen with the character that's entered into Foundry. :)

As for having to enter in a lot of data from the Void...

Yeah, either enter things in slowly as players use them, or do it all and make your own compendium apart from a given game. Or find someone who has done it, and beg from them to pass you a link on the side over in the back alley behind the Internet. ;)

Or we all need to start hammering Darrington to let that stuff be in VTTs as playtest mods. Like Paizo and some other publishers with open playtests do.

I'm not playing anytime soon, but by the time I do, the Fantasy Grounds integration should be up and out for a while, so my plan is to get the players to make their PCs on Demiplane, because it's so easy - I made one and could figure out what I was doing before I even looked at the rules - and then transfer them into FG. FG is great to play in, but the PC wizard tool only really works for 5e.
