Daggerheart General Thread [+]

I updated to V13 of Foundry to test out the Daggerheart module and it was worth it. I don't know who's reading this but if any Daggerheart people see it, I'd gladly pay for a supported module to keep up to date with all things DH. The work on the unofficial module is fantastic!

Ya. It's pretty hard to use a tool that doesn't have full support, for me. I hope they add an official module.

Doesn’t it already include the SRD? Which, I believe, is the lion share of the content? Other than art and such?
It does. The SRD doesn't include the Campaign Frames and any test content that's still in demo form. It also doesn't have the art, but the Foundry folks have done a good job of making it look good anyway.

And I'd much rather run with a full module, but if I have to run over VTT, this will be how I'm doing it. I still have a group that's willing to get together in person to play, so we'll have to see if we can make life sync up enough to make that happen.

Does the VTT have maps and minis? Then you can play any game on it. Insisting the VTT be fully automated with full rules integration before it’s considered functional is wild to me. I don’t want to play a video game. I like the mental exercise of having to think about the rules and mechanics. I don’t want to press a button and have everything done for me.

There's a difference between rules support and automation. You do you, but please don't tell me how to enjoy the hobby.

I’m not. I’m providing an alternate perspective. As long as the VTT can handle maps and minis close enough to a real tabletop, then it’s good enough for me. The people playing the game can handle the rules just like they do around a real table.

True, but with a game like Daggerheart, it’s hard to pass around the cards if you aren’t around a table. Having them in the VTT makes it a lot easier. Unless everyone playing has a copy of the rules and cards on their own, but in my experience that’s far from guaranteed. Especially at the beginning with a new game.

I definitely don’t want a VTT to automate everything, but having content inside is definitely a plus.

The rules for the cards are included in the free SRD and artless versions of the cards are a separate free download from Darrington Press. Both are linked in the OP here. There's no issue with the players not having access to the cards. Unless the players themselves refuse to download the SRD or cards, and if that's the case a shiny VTT with all the cards in place won't help. You've got a player problem not a VTT problem.

Calling this a player problem is really stretching things. All I'm saying, is that my group (stretched across 100's of kms) finds it easier to have all the content centralized in the software. I'm not saying you can't run a VTT as a glorified ToM, I'm just saying I can see why a lot of people, including myself, find it much more convenient to have the in-game compendiums.
