Its the first wtf picture for me...definitely not a Worg.

I guess they might be trying to break the association with the Tolkien version, which Peter Jackson mangled further. Along with making a clearer distinction for between Wolf, Dire Wolf, and Worg - though with the new mechanics I would have thought Dire Animals could have simply been dropped.

THIS

In the MM, we have Wolf, Dire wolf, Worg and Winter wolf...

I'm pretty much hoping that either the Dire wolf and/or Winter version don't show up in the MM.

Dire wolf is in, based on minis in Dungeons of Dread. Winter wolf is likely to be in MM2, given their close association with frost giants.

We can only hope that they aren't subjected to the bone-wang treatment.

I don't know whether to be awed or horrified that you know its name...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there's an extensive wikipedia entry.

On a semi-related note, the big giant thing skewed my perception of how big giants were in RPG's for many years.

Yeah, well, speak of a trivial SW-thing and at least one geek is bound to come up. But now that you mentioned it, I have to disagree. It looks much more like a worg should than this preview pic :D.

Sadly, its an even worse abomination than the movie version, which I didn't really think anyone would actually try for. This is a bad thing.

Eh. I just don't have any desire for wacky mutated dinosaur-beast things. Particularly not if they're masquerading as something as iconic as a worg. *Gets a rolled up newspaper* Bad WotC, Bad!

This is the worst "4e thing" I've ever seen to date, it smacks so much that has actually lowered all my enthusiasm.

Even if it is a particular modified Work, the design is so conceptually wrong (and I see you all agree it's just plain UGLY) that we would really like it OUT of the MM... :(
