When the Keeper of the Flame casts Summon Planar Ally.

Getting beings with a non-standard number of arms isn't easy for many models, but it can be done.

I went through a whole bunch of the LE 'hero' there, and then another set of the Warlock, and I swear the tool is just getting better all the time.

Another one of my spirit animal, the LN Dwarf Paladin who's sick your behavior but is as dependable as the bedrock.

Well, first some context.

My players are in a town with an ancient technomagic floating fortress over a town, part of which has crashed and destroyed a part of the town, and other part of which (the flying ones) hosts an arcane university. The PCs are friend with a blacksmith. At some point, he became missing, and the PCs investigate to learn that he joined a cult to be reunited with the spirit of the lost family members and talk to them, making "pilgrimage" at the fallen fortress.

The players are about to enter the fortress. I'd like them to have a confrontation, after digging through a technomagic command center where they'll learn about the cause for the crash and introduce another adventure down the road, arrive at a haunted layer with the crashed villages and still space to move around (let's say there was a large docking bay in the fortress at this area). I want the players to retrieve the blacksmith by various means, either by force if they want a fight, or by convicing the ghost of his wife to pass away so the blacksmith can live and not stay trapped here. I'd prefer a moving story rather than a fight against zombies but I am prepared for anything that my players would like to do.

I asked ChatGPT to check for holes in the story, and he proved remarkably helpful when asked to explain pros and cons of various choices I considered. I'd have achieved the same adventure without AI help, but I saved a lot of time by relying on it, not to choose for me but provide suggestion that I kept or not. I found the quality of the help to be rather high when used like this. ChatGPT - Sad Ghost Story Adventure Here is the transcript of the chat I had. It avoids totally some scenes, mostly linked to the mystery of the falling of the fortress, because I had those in mind already.

And since it's an image generation thread, here are a few pictures I generated. The workflow is to describe the image I have in mind, generate an image with AuraFlow 0.2 (which is currently the best model for compositing a scene) adding and removing details until I am satisfied, then inputing the resulting image to Flux, with various denoise level (.50 to .75) and the same prompt.

1. the courtyard of the formerly-flying university, complete with crashed statues and rubble, with ghost guards alerted by the PC's arrival. Can't decide between the two.

2. A technomagic forge. An iron golem is on duty, and possibly find weapon racks that they might unlock with the key the blacksmith has found on his way in, if they deal with the adventure without knocking him out and taking him home by force. through waves of specters...

3. The command room, where an ill-advised military explorer decided to sit into the captain's chair and "activate manual commands", not realizing that the manual command are designed for a telepathic species...

4. At the "city level", a market square where the souls trapped here try and sell goods for eternity. There should be a ceiling, but they are entering a haunted zone at this point.

5. A gallery that used to be a supervision room with magitech security cameras, now replaced by the images of the daily life of the deceased. Here the PCs might see the smith's wife going to pray for safe pregnancy at the temple of Arawai (giving them the information that the blacksmith and wife had a baby, whose soul reunited with the mom might help her pass away peacefully.

6. The blacksmith's wife parents manor, where she is trapping him in an eternal afternoon tea (well, not eternal since he'll die from hunger in the next few days if not liberated from the undead's lure).

(note: the wife is deliberately younger because she didn't age as a ghost, the tragedy happened 20 years ago). I really did prompt to get all the details I wanted right).

6. An optional hint, where they can find the place haunted by the baby, who projects an illusion of his bedroom, and where they can find a link with the parents (if they didn't figure it out from other clues in the other areas that they are either helping or ignoring a child ghost of particular importance).

(Everything is illusionary, once the ghost departs there will only be things turned to dust except the mobile that is actually enchanted to have the metal birds sing lullabies. I look forward to tell the players that it would be worth 150 gp to see if they take it...)

I plan to share the images as the players go, after I have made an oral description of the places they get into. I think being able to give "digital handouts" might help make the adventure more memorable.
