D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

That dancing lights spell would look okay if it was dancing (admittedly not how the spell is described) and didn't have crazy eyes.

That's easy to correct, by adding "and dancing wildly" after floats in the prompt. Though I should probably ask the model to put the apple in the other hand, because right now it's quite conspicuous...

I suppose the crazy eyes came from the proximity of wide-eyed and magical display, and concept got mixed up.

D&D spell illustration challenge, day 16: Darkness

1748798209548.png

Teachers grading a second-year student concentrating on a Darkness spell. The spell is difficult to use in its regular, spherical form.

Casting it on a horn-shaped device allows a directional effect that can easily compensate your lack of martial proficiency.

Prompt: In a Renaissance-style fencing hall with high wooden ceilings and stone walls, two duelists clash swords. The first, a determined human warrior with flowing blond hair and ornate leather garments, holds a glowing amulet at his chest. From a horn-shaped item in his hand bursts a jet of magical darkness — thick, matte-black and light-absorbing — blasting forward in a cone. The elven opponent, dressed in a quilted fencing vest, is caught mid-action; the cone of darkness completely engulfs, covers and obscures his face, as if swallowed by the void. Though the room is well-lit, the dark cone rejects all illumination, making the magic feel unmistakably unnatural.

Commentary: because, of course, that's how light works. The 2024 rules forbids casting Darkness over an item either held or worn, so one must drop the horn and cast the spell before picking it up to act as a blinding anti-flashlight. As you can see from the prompt, the model was very reluctant to cover the elf's face and it took me several attempts to make what I had in mind.

I keep coming back to this thread because I'm enjoying these pictures, but also yes :ROFLMAO:
And I thought my PCs were bad...

It's difficult to raise wizards.

Teen student: Avada Kedavra, boomer.

I don't know what you're talking about, this is my favorite warforged pic so far!!! This is perfect! (Well, except the background.)

Glad you liked it. I felt it was too roboty. My preference with warforged is more like that:

Prompt: a warforged is a humanoid construct, a fusion of metal, wood and magic. Its humanoid frameis composed of smooth iron plates and reinforced wooden joints, with arcane sigils glowing on its forehead and chest. Imagine a walking suit of armor given life: limbs made of iron, joints reinforced with polished wood, and veins of glowing blue magic pulsing beneath the surface. Its face is an expressionless metal mask with softwly glowing blue eyes, emotionless yet watchful. The warforged wears a battered cloak and carries a satchel. The scene is set in a medieval tavern.

But they are very ironman-y... I think it's because on the insistance on smooth metal plates.

These two might be more to your liking, with a slightly different prompt, acting as a hammer-wielding bouncer:

These look more hand-made than industrially-made, and the Cannith shtick is opposite to this kind of tinkered result.

Ha!
I never played Eberron, so I don't have the best eye for this, but that pic looks prefectly Warforged-y to me. Except for the arc reactor in his chest, but that's easy to Photoshop out.

As I mentioned upthread, I'm finding that including Iron Man references in the prompt produces some fantastic results for warforged faces. A big part of that is the shape of Iron Man's helmet "mouth" and the fact his helmet also has a bit of a heavy brow above the eyes. Both of those are significant features in a standard warforged's face that the AI image generators are often unable to produce without the Iron Man reference.

Here is ChatGPT's rendering of Auger, a warforged laborer who moonlights as 'Silver Kiss', a prizefighter renowned for her signature move: a headbutt she calls the 'silver kiss'. She is an NPC from "Fired & Forgotten", the opening adventure in the Convergence Manifesto series. She is going to make a reappearance in my upcoming "Steel Shadows" adaptation.

I asked ChatGPT if it could do a version that looked less obviously female, thinking it would produce something more or less the same as the above, but instead it gave me this, which doesn't look to me like "Auger" specifically but is nonetheless a decent warforged image just the same.

D&D spell illustration challenge, day 17: Delayed Blast Fireball

1748935538386.png

1. Offer to cast a lighting spell at a royal banquet to warm the room.
2. Cast Delayed Blast Fireball instead and watch as everyone is happy.
3. Count ten rounds, then cast recall to get back to your manor.
4. Everyone will assume you died with the others. 22d6 fire damage don't leave anything recognizable as corpses.
5. You should no longer be forced to attend social events in the future.

Prompt: In a lavish, candlelit banquet hall, a regal king in crimson and gold robes laughs, his jeweled crown gleaming. Beside him, a serene queen in silver brocade and emeralds holds a glass of wine. Above the king, an orange fireball floats, flickering. Around the table: a haughty noblewoman with a fan and peacock feather in her hair; a red-faced duke in a fur-lined doublet mid-toast; a bored young noble picking at his food. Among them, a calm, bearded wizard in elegant blue sits, quietly eating, a faint smile on his lips. The tension is invisible, but ready to explode.

Commentary: wizards often prefer to stay studying at home. Also, the prompt adherence is good, but I wonder what kind of item the wizard is eating with...
