This was pretty much how we got the North Carolina Gamedays started at the NC State University Campus. One of the Students (waves at Codemonkey) got us involved, and now we have a student rep (waves at Toras) who schedules the gameday tri-yearly at NCSU. We've also held it at a very cool game store one year, but the NCSU has become almost an institution of the Gameday.

I'll offer a piece of advice from Rel: If it's at all possible, try to hold it in a venue that doesn't charge, so you can skip a charge. It's not that Pay-to-Play WON'T work, but it brings an entirely different level of expectations to the event, and can suck some of the fun out for both the players and the organizers.
