Dallas Gameday?

I shall ask then. I'll also point the other gamers from the school in this direction.

This was pretty much how we got the North Carolina Gamedays started at the NC State University Campus. One of the Students (waves at Codemonkey) got us involved, and now we have a student rep (waves at Toras) who schedules the gameday tri-yearly at NCSU. We've also held it at a very cool game store one year, but the NCSU has become almost an institution of the Gameday. :)

I'll offer a piece of advice from Rel: If it's at all possible, try to hold it in a venue that doesn't charge, so you can skip a charge. It's not that Pay-to-Play WON'T work, but it brings an entirely different level of expectations to the event, and can suck some of the fun out for both the players and the organizers.

Good luck, guys and gals! I'll keep an eye out to see how you all progress.

Due to the weather, I won't be doing much of anything today...

But once I get free- probably tomorrow- I'll ask about some sites I know.

Might you be thinking of the one that was held at the University of Dallas, two years ago this Spring? (Or three years ago, depending on how you count?)

I'm interested in DMing, probably 3.5 D&D. If the rest of you are interested in teaching me what's what, I'd be open to playing in something in another system as well.

I'm a student at UD, which is located right across Loop 12 from Texas Stadium. It's a centeral location with good access to all the highways. I'll have to check, but I may be able to wrangle use of one of the school's spaces for free. I seem to remember that the last time we did this, we weren't charged anything, but then that was during the school year. I don't know what their policy is over the summer.

Do you want me to ask about it?

I went to both the one up in Denton and the one at UTD. UTD was a better space, IMO.

Just for clarity...

Are we talking UTD (University of Texas at Dallas) on Spring Valley Road between Coit & Central Expy or UD (University of Dallas), near Texas Stadium off of H-114?

Yami no Hon said University of Dallas, but a couple of other people mentioned University of Texas at Dallas as a possible location because the last Dallas Games Day was their apperantly.

I think the first thing we need to do is agree on a date, that will make everything else easier. I vote for July 7 or 14. That will give us plenty of time to get organized and find GMs and players.

I like the week before - June 30th. One of our Houston constituents, Jdvn1 said he'll be in town that weekend.

How's about you Der Kluge?

I've found nothing promising in HEB. The Boy's Ranch (in Bedford) offers classroom-size rooms at the following rates:

Room Rentals: ($100.00 deposit)
Classroom A, B, C

One Room: $25/Hr.
Two Rooms: $35/Hr.
Three Rooms: $45/Hr.

However, the sizes are not really sufficient for a group of 20 +
I still need to check out Euless, so we'll see.

As far as date, I'm local and flexible. I think it is a good idea to work a date that will work out for those coming in from out of town. End of June looks promising.

(Sorry about taking so long to respond. Been dealing with the aftermath of the storms; a lot of cleanup)

I was thinking since we are actually trying to plan a game day, der Kluge or someone should change the thread title to something like "Dallas/Fort Worth Game Day Planning Thread" or maybe start a new thread if thats not possible.
