Dallas, TX: Game Chest gone from Valley View Mall

Rent increase THERE? They should have been paying LSC to keep a shop there.

Where do you have to go to find a LSC store now? Plano?

Well, the mothership in Arlington is still going strong...but since it's near UT Arlington, it would be a shock if that store EVER closed.

And the staff from the Irving store mostly went to the Hurst location, which is by a much healthier mall than the Irving mall. The last time I was in there, they had a fairly healthy bit of foot traffic, plus a game of 4Ed going.

Besides those & Mequite, I think there are still another 3 or 4 locations.

We also lost the Lone Star location in Irving a few years ago over a rent increase dispute. However, AFAIK, the Lone Star chain is still doing just fine.
Bought a lot of books from the Irving location. Was sad to see her go.
I have a friend that swears by Area 51 in Grapevine.

I might have to check out Mothership sometime.
I haven't checked Area 51 yet.

The Mothership is fun...

When I moved to Irving, Grande Center had just been erected, and as we drove by, I said to my Dad, "That would be a perfect place to put a game store"...as I pointed at the inside of the "L" of the strip mall.

LSC opened their shortly thereafter, and I went there 2-3 times a week except when I was away for school. And I was there just a few days before they closed. *sigh*

Waco? How long has it been there?

I ask because Game Chest Dallas had an excellent OoP game selection and now I wonder if there is a connection.

I used to make the North Central LSC, Game Chest and Irving LSC loop nearly every weekend back in the day when I lived in Las Colinas. Now all 3 are gone, and so are all the game stores I used to Frequent back in Knoxville. Fortunately, both areas have other stores that have picked up the slack, so all I'm missing are fond memories!

:.-( Oh, man I almost cried when I saw this. I grew up in Dallas back when V V mall wasn't all that bad and Games Chest was my local game store. There must have been a couple years I went every week. Now I live in Plano and Madness is such a killer store I get everything from there.

I can still remember a day that I was picking up some original Tyranid minis and got to listen to one of the employes argue with a customer that Bat Man was just as powerful as Super Man.
