D&D 5E Dark sun Times of change

As Akylanthes climbs down into the new hole a small splash of brown water splashes on him and it Burns, like grabbing a metal door handle in the midday sun, taking a dip does not seem like a good idea. Swinging off the rope and landing on one of the platforms is simple enough.

The long "runway" seems to run on forever atleast as far as the eye can see. Dotted along are vaulted bridges to cross sides.

GM: This is straight up a canal just so you know even though your characters wouldn't have a clue.

Akylanthes keeps on heading as he does he notices indentations on the wall that line up with the bridges perhaps some sort of numbering system? They certainly look like dice Pips.

After around 5mins or so a large stone door blocks his path their is a winch set into the floor by the door made of some strange porous rock, the "Water" seems to drain at the wall into a hole in the floor.

Akylanthes light up a torch and takes notes of those marks before continuing. At the stone door, he searches for any traces of a previous presence. No more ropes? Is the door a trap that closed recently, or the passage was sealed long time ago? To what is connected the winch? winch need ropes, chains or gear to work, usually. Did this one got one (rope) before, or it seems complete?

Perception; Survival:
1D20+5 = [1]+5 = 6
1D20+5 = [10]+5 = 15

After that, Akylanthes comes back and makes his report, showing his notes.

The winch has a chain attached made of the same material it looks as if it heads through the floor.

OOC: Its written there in my notes... not sure how I managed to ommit it

"I don't know the utility of those traces on the wall or this winch. It may open the door, open water valve, be a trap. But the area seems safe, until there at least. Someone want to come with me? I need more muscles down there, and brains. " he asks, with some doubts.

Tarsin smiles a cockeyed smile at the half-giant's joke. "This one is more than meets the eye," he thinks to himself.

OOC: It's my understanding that this canal and its walkways terminate at the hole we came down through? I.e. it's a one-way tunnel? My actions assume that is so.

Tarsin follows Akylanthes, attempting to ascertain the meaning or significance of the markers along the wall.

Investigation : 1D20+3 = [3]+3 = 6

"I will be the muscle, evidently," with a wink at Atroclos.

Kimet shimmied down the rope, deftly avoiding the sludgy river, and followed the others. “So who set that rope, and where are they?” she mused, eying the empty bridges spanning the underground river of...whatever. It certainly wasn’t water, unfortunately. She stopped with the others to look at the door.
