D&D 5E (2014) Darkvision and whiteouts

If as a DM i determine that a whiteout effect is occuring, blinding creature who can see, then i'd probably determine that creatures with darkvision are also blinded.

Unless the drow is called Drizzt, in which case he crits the polar bear and kills the whiteout with both scimitars cause Drizzt is a killing maching slaying everything he encounters, according to the rules :)

You know how some DM have a tendency of overusing their NPCs, i think it's one of these cases. Drizzt is Fighter 8/Rogue 20. He always steal the spotlight. :P

Uh. Not to be that guy, the original premise is flawed. Whiteout conditions have nothing to do with illumination. You can be in Whiteout conditions at night, with only a dim flashlight. They're basically just a case of total obscurement comparable to the fog cloud spell. So dark vision or even some hypothetical light vision are both completely unrelated.

It's like asking if a Elf has advantage to stay awake or resistance to fatigue if he tries to stay awake for 4 days. It has no relationship with advantage vs magical sleep effects.
