Could someone please fill me in on this Death Dealer stuff, please? So it's some fantasy books (how many) who got comicnized (new word for 'ya) into how many comics?
What's the story, thanks?

But if I had my choice of systems for the Death Dealer series, it would have to be either BECMI or 4E.

So Harley. Would you care to explain what kind of players are most likely to play 4e? I do not care if it's a generalization, let's hear it.
Thanks for the interest, guys. It has been great working our way through the world created by Nat Jones and Jay Fotos. They aren't gamers, in the RPG sense, so the world they created doesn't reduce itself to the usual fantasy tropes. Add a heaping dose of blood and grit supplied by Frazetta's artwork, and when you're done you have an adventure that can't be mistaken for any other iteration of D&D.
And, all illusions of pride aside, it does not get any cooler than to write prose that will come behind a Frank Frazetta cover.
I know the announcement is a disappointment to folks hoping for another of Goodman Games' 3.5/1E releases, but I feel strongly that 4E is the right engine for Death Dealer. I'm not ignorant to the sensitivity around "kewl p0w3rz," but until the adventure makes it to your FLGS, you're just going to have to trust me on that count.

From the standpoint of trying to provide helpful feedback... there are a number of folks who would normally be your audience for this sort of thing who won't even pick it up and flip through it if it is for 4E. I'm not saying that in an effort to convince you to change the product, etc. Just adding another data point to the total set.
Korgoth,
Totally understood. I respect their reasons for not picking it up. And it is a shame because the folks that still know Frazetta are perhaps the least likely to be playing 4E. (Take this as the gross characterization it is. Hundreds, if not thousands, of exceptions exist, many on ENworld.)
But if I had my choice of systems for the Death Dealer series, it would have to be either BECMI or 4E.
BECMI isn't legal. So 4E it is.
Make it to Gen Con, and I'll run a BECMI conversion for you.![]()

Death Dealer has a sordid history. The image appeared on the record sleeve to the Molly Hatchet album. It inspired a series of novels that some love and some hate. It inspired a completely different series of comics, at least twice.
There adventures are based of the latest series of comics. The comics aren't based off of anything but the image, but are approved by Frazetta.
