Death in Freeport 3.5 Re-Recruiting (Closed)

Looks very interesting. Is in your books a feat that allows monks to use non-monkweapons in a flurry?

How many levels will we gain (limits some character concepts)?

I know the introduction and the quickplay characters of the true20 variant.

1 I'm not aware of one off the top of my head, though note that the realms help website link under source book feats above and the crystal keep downloads both provide a ton of wotc ones I am willing to consider if you are aware of one that I might not be.

2 The trilogy is designed to go from 1-4 ending with the characters earning level 5. I have other freeport stuff for higher levels as well. It is a pbp though so I would not expect a ton of advancement and would suggest planning a character that is fun to play as is. Note the gestalt options too if you were thinking of say a martial arts caster build.

I was thinking about gestalt monk with fighter or warrior, but I don't want infringe dogheads niche.

Hm, what about alignment?

Would be a CN cleric with the Force and Madness domain be fine?
(Maybe cloistered cleric from UA)

Don't know what an Anima is... If it is a cleric...

One of the house rules is that everyone is neutral unless they are supernaturally aligned to something (paladin/blackguard/champion types, alignment domain casters, alignment descriptor outsiders).

Madness domain would be thematically appropriate in Freeport, I'm not familiar with the force domain off the top of my head, where is it from?

Clerics can be worshippers, cult followers, or even simply those who just study certain forms/traditions of magic. Cloistered clerics fit very well IMO.

Anima is a type of innate magical power class, it gives him some innate enhancement bonuses and some small non-clericky tricks.

Sorry, I must have missed this rule. You got many ;)

Force domain is from comp divine, but you can get it from crystal keep:

on second thought, I would prefer dream:

Dream (CDiv p138)
Immune to Fear effects.

1st Sleep(PH p280)
2nd Augury(PH p202)
3rd Deep Slumber(PH p217)

or slime domain:

Slime (PGF p91)
Rebuke / Control Oozes, up to 3 + Charisma modifier times per day.

1st Grease(PH p237)
2nd Melf’s Acid Arrow(PH p253)
3rd Poison(PH p262)

D&D, season to taste. ;)

Both of those seem appropriate and could work, slime could be associated with a number of demon lords (Juiblex comes to mind) or Cthulhu mythos elder gods. I'll think it over a little.

Both of those domains are also in the Spell Compendium which I own and can reference (and slime is in FRCS for Ghanaudaur as well). I'm fine with both.

Mythos sounds really good. Thinking about the mythos, I think I would play a cultist of the key and the portal (Domains: Knowledge (cloistered), Dream and Travel)

What about the pseudonatural template (crytal keep template p 17)

Becomes an ‘Outsider’.
Int Minimum of 3

True Strike, 1/day.
Spell Resistance of 2 x HD (max. 25).
As a Standard Action, the creature can make itself look grotesque.
This doesn’t change its abilities, but all opponents receive a -1
Morale penalty on attacks against it.
Code:
HD Damage Reduction Electricity & Acid Resistance
up to 3 — 5
4-11 5 / magic 5
12+ 10 / magic 10

4-11 5 / magic 5
12+ 10 / magic 10

A secret cultist would be OK and pseudonatural fits right into the Cosmic Horror style and I am familiar with them from Tome and Blood, but it is a +4 LA template (3.5 update booklet page 26 for the Manual of the Planes version with the stats you quote above from crystal keep).

+4 LA is an option under my character creation options and has no impact on xp earned but it does mean only an 8 point buy and being restricted to NPC class choices such as adept or cultist.
