Defining a decade with a song: 1980s

The Shaman

Pretend for a moment you are putting together a small museum exhibit on the 1980s. For A/V you can play one song on a repeating loop – this song is intended to give the visitor a sense of the decade.

What song would you choose?

Eye of the Tiger.

Though I hated that song, it's a good choice.

I'd choose Iron Maiden's "Two Minutes to Midnight". Perfect Cold War paranoia song, IMHO.

Man..it's been hard to narrow down just one song for these threads. But I love 'em!

Therein lies the challenge... :)

I've actually done this for museum exhibits, though fortunately I wasn't limited to just one song - it's actually a lot of fun starting with a handful of artifacts and figuring out ways to make them meaningful through as many senses as possible.

If it's a museum in the U.S., I'd use Springsteen's "Born in the USA". Superficially, it's patriotic, but it's really a protest song. And it has it's own bit of history, as Bruce stopped Regan from using it in campaign rallies in 1984.
