Demiliches and other Epic nastiness- help me plan my game!

I would second that you make sure there is a way off beating it. The "don't worry, high level characters with good players can get around anything" can sometimes be taken to far. Especialy at epic levels were things can get out of control. Although, you know your players better than I do, so they might really be able to get through anything.

dungeon blaster- Demiliches have damage reduction 30/- unless you're using a vorpal weapon - the PCs found this out through some lengthy research at Candlekeep coupled with insanely high knowledge roles hence the vorpal swords. We didn't think it made much sense either, but there you go :)

D-rock - Don't worry, I'm being careful I don't end up overpowering them- I know what you mean, I've noticed before that at epic the line between hard fight and near-TPK seems to get a lot more blurry since so much depends on saving throws against really nasty special abilities. With the demilich, I think the trap the soul is the biggest concern- but the bladesinger and paladin have high enough fort saves they'll basically be immune unless they roll ones, the spelltheif is immune to the attack thanks to a blessing granted by her deity for completing a big quest and the rest have a better than 50% chance of passing even before buffs...

Ellie.

If you have S1, the original Tomb of Horrors, I'd just use that. Its a great location for a demi-lich. And the characters are guaranteed to be scared, even if they are epic level.
