Ok, I threw out a few Complete Adventurer feats for approval. However, Players should help us out by throwing a few of these out as well. Idealy we'll slowly get the books gone through. Now granted, most of the ones I threw out I knew wouldn't be contentious, but we need to start somewhere.

FYI, I have an adventure I'll be proposing soon, but it likely won't start till after Gen Con. Still, we have characters coming down the pipes, so feel free to submit more adventures :)

EL Jefe,

Oops for posting in the wrong place wasn't paying attn. I was (for once as I'm sure it seems) not questioning the robot-y feel of LEB but Eberon in general I've never played it so I reserve judgment of course.

Anyways, again everything is cool - life is swell. Just saw the PVP idea and wanted to chime in - the living environment is perfect for it.

Hey, no problem. Your post just looked a little weird over there.

Let me give you a little background on the warforged, maybe that'll straighten it out for you, maybe not. I'm not an expert because I'm still waiting on a couple books, but here goes...

In Eberron, there's been this huge, WWII-ish or hundred years war-ish conflict that just wrapped up a few (2? 5?) years ago. Not surprisingly, developments in magic took the place of weapons technology devlopment in our world. About 30 years ago, one of the noble houses figured out a way to make living construct soldiers...just pop 'em off the assembly line, give 'em a few weeks of training, and send them into battle. That's the warforged. Maybe not the perfect soldiers, but not half bad...fiercely loyal, don't have to feed 'em, they never sleep, march all night and fight all day without rest. I don't know how many were built, but it's in the thousands. Of course, many were destroyed in the fighting.

At the end of the hostilities, several treaties were drawn up, and the fate of the warforged had to be determined. The two big provisions were this: All warforged were considered to be free beings and not property, although they could indenture themselves like any free being (and many did). The other big thing was that the forges were all shut down permanently, outlawing the manufacture of new warforged. That was all 2 years before the start of the game.

There is a community in the middle of a land that was made barren by the war. Not having to eat or drink, they can make a living there where hardly any other creature could. Few visit there, as simply travling is an ordeal on par with crossing the Sahara or Antarctica. There's a rumor that the leader of this community (himself a warforged) has rediscovered the magics of the forge, and is making new warforged, but nobody knows if that's real or just campfire stories.

So, you've got a few thousand of these beings, most of them about the age of a small child, who know nothing beyond what they were trained to do during the war, and some of whom are taking up the adventuring life as a way of coping with their existance. It's not for everyone, but it looked interesting to me, and I've been having fun with it so far.

Hope that helps.

Warforged do have a somewhat roboty feal, but the context is beyond that. The races have created a new form of sentient life, and they were initialy created to be subserviant. So there are racial, political, and moral undertones to the 'forged, not to mention that they are a sign of one of the bloodier conflicts that current history remembers, which is still quite fresh.

Eberron has so many contexts, it can be played cyberpunkish, steampunkish, pure fantasy, high fantasy, it realy does have a lot to go around for whatever style you're looking for.

As for the PvP, my personal preference would be to avoid it, but if you get a group of players who are willing to try it, more power too them. Just remember to keep it all in game.

Makes better sense the way you explained it. NP, again the stting looks pretty good I guess I can order the books and have them sent to me over here in Kabul. Usually I get them in three weeks.

Good thing about the war zone tax exemption more books!

First and foremost: Der Hauptman, good to see you! Get your ass over to the Circvs and say a quick 'hello' there if you get a chance, there's a whole bunch of people there who miss you!

And now for the opening of the can of worms: Has a ruling been made on the Warshaper prestige class from Complete Warrior? There has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth re: Changeling's early qualification for the PrC, and their ability to take advantage of its benefits most/all of the time. Normally, the class benefits are offset by qualifying as either a monster with a huge LA, or a class/class combo that only allows you to partake of its benefits for a limited amount of time. There are also some concerns about shifters accessing the PrC, but those seem to be somewhat more muted.

I don't have a dog in this hunt; I loves me some changelings, like the PrC, and would probably allow the combo in a game of my own, but I won't lose too much sleep if it's watered down or disallowed entirely.

Sorry if CW was going to come up for discussion and I jumped the gun, or if I should have started a new thread!

Yeah, you probably should have. As to Changelings, I would say that they should not qualify for the benefits by the spirit of the class, though by the exact wording they do.
