dex fighter?

If you want a Dex-heavy "fighter" (as in the class), you'd have to go with a Tempest fighter, possibly wielding two short swords (using the high Dex to increase the static damage).

Or take the variety of single-blade styles (using a light blade, heavy blade, or a spear, though there's slightly more support for light blade and spear) that don't require two weapons.

The damage bonus on Tempest Technique makes it tasty, though -- though a spear-based reach build with Str/Dex is still pretty fun (Eladrin, probably).

Awww, come guys, no ones going to actually try and make a Fighter that relies almost solely on dex?

I guess its up to me. Mind you this guy will never win any awards for best fighter. :p

Basically, You can capitalize on the fact that most of your defender duties use basic melee attacks...thus melee training lets you stay sticky no matter what your highest stat is.....(i dream of making a Cha version of this guy :p) Then I took stances for my dailies (one of which lets you make more basic attacks) and one of the encounters i swapped for fox's cunning (basic attack), 'come and get it' pulls and marks large numbers hitting is incidental.... I tried for mobility utilities. For feats i just grabbed what looked fun, probably could have gone TWF....

I took him to level 11, just to see what would happen...the PP uses your highest stat, so it was a good fit.

I dunno, I'd play him in a one shot, but not for a campaign....

umm you didnt even use Combat Agility in place of Combat Superiority isnt that a bare minimum...? oops I see Agile superiority once you get to it is better. So you are using MBA and RBAs and charges in place of at-wills.

Over all the character at Paragon where you built it seems like it would work fairly well ... I cant imagine at level 1 it being at all interesting.

Agile Superiority works pretty well too. It keeps the Superiority, stop moving, aspect, but makes it Dex based.
Yeah, I don't think there's a compelling reason for any character to take Combat Agility. IMO, it's inferior to Combat Superiority in every respect - I'd rather hold an enemy next to me, than chase after them and knock them prone. Agile Superiority is a must-have feat for dex fighters - my tempest chainfighter would be so much less without it!

yeah, thats mostly why i took it that far, level 1 would be pretty boring, though I think it would still be able to do its job as a defender. Looking further, hesitation slash is a better level 3 power, as it adds DEX to attack.....and there is a similar level 5 daily....

I'm definitely intrigued by the idea of Off-stat fighters (I'd say they're the best class to do this with), but they probably wouldn't actually be as fun to play as any of the other suggestions in this thread, once the novelty wore off.

Why don't you grab some powers from Dragon 366 if you want a dex-based fighter? Stuff like Hesitation Slash, Nimble Bladestorm and so on. While they're not incredibly good, many of them add dex to your attack roll.

For me Dex Fighter is so covered its not funny (though admittedly the MBA focus with Martial Training to Dex surprised me) the real challenge is Intelligent Fighter - Odysseus and similar Ancient Greek ideals. Basically I end up accepting wisdom focused as close enough.

Actually the new Ranged Warlord covers Odysseus quite well (you needed to be really strong to draw his bow).
