Did Anyone play the new WHFRPG?

I had heard that FF was going to have the game at Gencon. The idea of a boardgame/rpg WHF kinda makes me shudder, but I will reserve judgment until I actually see it in play.

I'm not going to buy it until I play it at the local Brick and Mortar. I'm kinda on the fence about this. Fantasy Flight has put out some outstanding products, but it doesn't sound like an RPG.

WHFRPG is one of those games that I'll buy whatever edition comes out. I know that the game is really going to be different and I feel it has that Warhammer Quest thing going on with it instead of being more of a rpg, but I'm curious and open for it. I also think that my reason is that I really trust FFG in what they are doing since I see nothing but uber-quality from them. If it was any other likely to be other game companies trying to sell this to me, I'd probably be even less receptive.

I guess, that years later, I am still reeling from Dragonlance SAGA edition. I actually bought a couple of the products, and still have them if anyone wants to buy the.:)

FF will do a better job, I am confident. I own several of their board games, but none of their RPGs.

A couple of things that concern me:

a limit of three players, possible an expansion pack would change this

was this actually playtested outside of FF

I am concerned only because I would hate for WHFRPG to lapse into obscurity. I have enjoyed 2nd edition, but don't have a hard time changing.

Where did you hear this?

Fantasy Flight Games [Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - Description] - Leading publisher of board, card, and roleplaying games.

Three players form the hero party, seeking out adventure and glory. They will be the protagonists, and act together towards a goal. As they perform mighty deeds, combat foul enemies, and exercise their diplomatic skills they will gain experience. This experience allows players to upgrade their skills and abilities, as well as gain new options and help define their characters’ roles within the world. As the PCs gain experience and become even more powerful, the Game Master will craft more challenging stories.

But I reread the page which also includes this:

This Core set is best suited for a group of four players – one Game Master and three Player Characters. Adding more players is easy! You can find more careers, party sheets, action cards, and components in the the Adventurer’s Toolkit.

So you can expand if you buy the extra set. I wonder how much it will retail for.

This was definitely demo'ed at GenCon; I walked past people playng it. I'm going to give it a fair shot by pretending it isn't WHFRPG when I first play it; if it's fun, I'll be psyched and get used to its Warhammery nature.

Sounds like an excellent approach.

My local store should have an open box copy for free play. My group will be spending an afternoon there to give it a try.

Anybody know when it's coming out?
