Did they ever make the grade?

Hey, what about the Hrangolvrellum? I was truly bummed when this critter was omitted.

And don't even get me started with the Stidz.....

At risk of being pedantic, apatosaurus was never brontosaurus. The brontosaurus was a mistake and was never actually a real animal; someone put the wrong head on an apatasaurus body and called it a brontosaurus. It's like putting a wolf skull on a leopard body and saying "ta da, it's a fnord!"

They changed a lot of names for creatures from the past editions. "Cave" or "Giant" pretty much = "dire" now.
OKay, so a giant beaver would be a dire beaver now, right? Consistancy makes sense, but a guide would be nice.

Right, except for a few cases where the "giant" animal is one that exists (or existed) in the real world. That goes for crocodiles, octopuses, and squids.

Also, for insects and similar crawlies (vermin), they use the term Monstrous instead.

yes. they also don't have any real power over their layers/hells... mostly cuz they gave divine ranks to other things in the DDG and try to 'splain it that way.

they are just another outsider that is a possible kill target now.

You mean you couldn't kill them before? Funny, dunno what we whacked at the end of Queen of the Demon Web pits then. :]

Well, not all of them. It's still a giant wasp and giant ant.

Did the giant slug ever appear in a WOTC 3.X product, or is it limited to the Tome of Horrors?

Cheers,
Cam
