D&D 5E Did you participate in the playtest?

Did you participate in the playtest?

The playtest is the rules set I use for one of my campaigns. I love the way DnD Next / 5th edition makes it easy to use outside material. My campaign uses Pathfinder Kingdom Building rules and DnD Next rules for everything else, but I use a Pathfinder adventure. I can very easily wing monster's stats with their DnD Next analog, which is a good thing because I don't have any of the other Pathfinder books.

I would never have been able to cobble together something from multiple sources so easily with 4th edition.

I answered "both". I participated in the sense that I downloaded all of the playtest packets, and read through them, but I didn't have a chance to play any games using the rules. I did answer the various questionnaires that WotC sent out, and tried to provide meaningful answers where possible, whilst at the same time, steering clear of questions that I didn't think I could fairly answer without having seen the playtest packets in action.

This is true for me too.

Yes.

In the sense that I dl'ed the rules, read them sevreal times each, discussed them with friends, made characters, crunched numbers, and ran multiple theoretical scenarios on my own.

My group wants nothing to do with D&D.

I ran a couple of sessions with my regular group using one of the packets--the first one they released Caves of Chaos for, I think. Nobody much cared for the process or thought WotC's surveys did much to capture their opinions on the game, so we didn't pursue it. Sadly, our group's gaming time is too limited to spend on unfinished games.

I found Basic is a marked improvement over that packet and might be one of my favorite iterations of the game. I just wished they killed a few more D&D sacred cows (9 point alignments, magic supremacy, questionable scaling issues, random chargen, etc.). Though Basic isn't even complete, so I'll reserve final judgment until then. I haven't decided if I'm going to spring for the full game, yet. I'm a rules-lite-DIY-guy, so I fear it'll just be a bunch of stuff I'll have to ignore or rewrite anyway.

I ran a one shot of an early playtest packet. Other than that, just skimmed.

I should note that the one shot was a big hit with the group. But we were all busy with life and our other campaign.

I ran quite a few one-shots with my group or random gamers or non-gamers, but no regular playtest campaign- there just wasn't room, between my 4e and 1e games and my friend's (very occasional) Mage game.

Been playtesting as much as possible and still am as MortalPlague, thalmin & Plaguescarred have said.
Got involved in the alpha testing as well after DMing at GenCon 2012.
Ran my home group through that and a few public groups with the open playtest.
Glad to have you onboard, fanboy2000.
And welcome back, Mouseferatu.
