Diet Healing Potiions

Our party find healing potions useful enough to keep a couple each at all times, but not so useful that we're keeping massive amounts of them.

Personally I think that's pretty much perfect.

IMHO healing potions are just fine. They are cheap as hell, after all, so they shouldn't be worth all that much. I like the mechanic for them- it makes them feel very "desperate measure" most times.
Being a measure of last resort is fine by me; I guess I just want healing potions to have something to do with a PC's actual surge value. Whether it's full surge value, or half value or whatever.

Maybe that's just my math-headedness though.

Here is the problem that I see.

"Hi, I'm Bob, a 20th level fighter. I have 200 hit points, and the best 25 gold pieces I ever spent is in this bottle right here! Why, it comes out to 2 hit points per gold piece for this baby!"

"Ha! You think Bob's got it good? I'm a 30th level warden with 300 hit points, and I get 3 hp/gp!"

(No idea what a real 20th level fighter's hps are off hand, but you get the idea.)

It should take more than .00001% of your wealth to absorb the damage a demon prince does to you in a couple of rounds.
