Digg slowing things down?

I was noticing recently that whenever a page load seems to take a long time, the status bar at the bottom says it is opening what I assume to be the Digg.com tool that appears at the top of the thread.

Has anybody else noticed this, and is there anything that might be done?

Dunno about Digg, but we're cloning the database ready for a test import into the new site, and it's taking a long time. So the server's pretty much being strained right now.
