Since we're not allowed to post to this thread I thought we could talk about/respond to his posts here.

Yes, American restaurants serve riduculously large portions. I don't really know why. I've found that sometimes you can ask for the "lunch" menu and get more reasonably sized portions...usually about half the size for about 2/3 the price. For Americans, dinner (or supper depending on where you are from) is the evening meal and is usally the largest of the day. Breakfast is usually just a bowl of cereal or a bagel and lunch is just a sandwich or something quick.
