"Sometimes the simplest solution is always the best. So come, shall we go meet the masters of this lovely mansion? I for one am quite eager to finish up this little business," Raekz comments as he lowers his weapon, preparing to move in with the party.

ooc; Marching order: Raekz and Kaz in front, 354B next, then Jhenna and Alton in rear. Please let me know if this isn't correct.

IC: Moving through the now yawning doorway, the group shuffles down a 10' wide corridor, the ceiling some 2' above them and seeming very confining. The pair of hobgoblins are able to see where the corridor opens up into a much larger completely darkened chamber, but are unable to see the other side with their dark vision.

OOC: people without darkvision, or a light source, will be blinded in this section. Feel free to move into the chamber if you wish, but give me spot checks (if you can see) once you do.
 


Jehen felt much safer with the heavily-armored hobgoblins taking the lead- especially since it seemed likely that their "hosts" knew they were here. But the big fighters also made a very good wall, and she struggled to see past them. While her magically-enhanced sight meant the darkness was not real obstacle for her, she knew that not everyone in the group was so lucky, and since they had already given up the element of surprise a little light wouldn't hurt... She stepped up into the second rank and raised her Everbright lantern as high as she could reach, sweeping the beam across the dark area ahead of them- while she couldn't see over her compatriots, there was a clear gap _between_ them.

ooc; I had wanted to see if Kaz would post, but it seems not! So Kaz will take a passive 10 on his check (with any modifers of course).

IC: The quartet of heroes carefully entered the larger chamber, Jehen's provided illumination showing an oval shaped room the walls roughly hewn from stone. The bullseye latern reveals the chamber to be about 60' long, slimming down to 30' wide to the left and right of the group, though those corners are in shadow presently.

Exiting from the corridor, the group can see three other exits in the far wall; one corridor directly across from them and two smaller tunnels flanking it some 20' to the left and right.

Hogoblins out in front, the warforged and House of Finding heir hang back near the exit, while the halfling has stayed out near the door to keep an eye on the group's escape route.

Jehen's illumination causes shadows to jump and flicker throughout the large chamber, the ceiling lost above in darkness as the quartet gaze about the cave and try to discern if anything awaits them.

Spot DC 23, her arcane sight aiding her greatly, the inquisitive is able to discern two very large forms clinging to the ceiling; they look like thin oily furred rodents, until one their large earred heads turns to regard the group; pupiless eyes staring blankly as one of the two large dire bats let's go of the rock above and unfurls 15' wide wings....

A sudden screech, like claws on chalk board splits the musty air of the place, causing the group to falter in surprise!

ooc; Initiatives please! Jehen is the only PC who can act in the surprise round! FIGHT!
 


Jehen would have dearly loved to stay cool and collected- but she could not entirely quell a surprised exclamation, a sharp bark in orcish that sounded odd in her high, trained voice. She ducked almost reflexively, setting the lantern down as her other hand scrabbled to reach the pouch of components slung at her waist.

OOC: Actual choice of actions depends on whether she wins or loses initiative... Initiative 1d20+1= 18; roll Roll Lookup ; if she wins, she try to catch one or both bats in a Color Spray once they get in range (they have blindsense, but are not blind, so they ought to be effected, Will DC 15). If she loses, she will try to pop the nearest bat with an eldritch blast (ranged touch +2; 1d6 damage)
