ooc; Hturtle, you didn't mention 4B getting up from prone in your post, so you're still at a minus to hit. To answer your earlier question, any spell/power with an attack roll can critical. In the case of your Ecto-Cooler, as there isn't any damage, rolling a crit only results in auto-hitting... but remember, in 3E you need to CONFIRM the crit roll as well. Please look up critical rules if you have any confusion.

IC: The horribly wounded dire creature crazed with fury and blood lust, screeches as it dive bombs the group; Jehen's arcane blast goes wide, while FourBee's own psi-shard narrowly misses the swiftly swooping creature as well.

Kaz's swipe is too slow, his continued hewing with his greatsword taking a small toll on his responsiveness.

But Raekz is ready. With calm collected intensity in his narrowed eyes, the short hobgoblin lifts his deadly weapon in hand, knowing his own reflexes and the speed with which he can swing are more than a match for the dire animal.

Waiting for his chance, the warrior springs into action, slicing exactly where Kaz had precviously hit and severing the creature's entire wing!

With a final howl of pain and fury, the hairy creature crashes to the ground, skidding a few feet and leaving a dark stain behind it, finally coming to rest against one of the cave's walls.

Now all is silent, the three exits yawning ominously before the group.

ooc; great job everyone! we're out of rounds.

Kaz lets his sword tip fall to the ground, his muscles straining from the mighty blows and now out of battle, his adrenaline rush is failing him. The hobgoblin is breathing loudly, as he attempts to catch his breath.

Kaz walks over to the body of the bats and investigates it to see if it carries anything of value. He will wipe any blood from his blade on the corpse, before turning to the others. "Well, I guess they know we're here. I hoped we could surprise them, but this works to... shall I lead?" Kaz asks.

"Haste is good, since our welcome is no doubt out-stayed. But we do have a minor concern of oh... him?" remarks Raekz, gesturing to their warforged companion. "And the lady here has some wounds on her. Anything for them?"

"I'm not like as to die just yet, though I will, I believe, have to write this hat off as a loss," Jehen complained. "As to our compatriot, I might be able to do something..."

OOC: Jehen will take a moment to assess her own injury- once she is satisfied that it won't kill her, she will attempt a UMD check to activate her Eternal wand of Repair light damage on the warforged. DC 20, 1d20+7 check; she will use an action point if the base die roll is 8-12. UMD 1d20+7= 21 (no action point needed); roll Roll Lookup ; successful wand use heals 1d8+1 HP= 2 HP, but he should be able to move around, at least; roll Roll Lookup (1 use left today)

Occ: Jehen is getting on 354b's good side. :)

After receiving Jehen's aide 354b will stand up and thank Jehen. 354b is hesitant to continue on with out rest.

"Well, if we're all ok to continue, let's go." Kaz says, before turning back to the group saying "Is there one amongst us who can find traps? This place is most likely filled with them" the hobgoblin asks

ooc; Party marching order, please? Also, Alton IS still among the group (though back at the door) and everyone knows the halfling can search for traps. Also, 4B seems to be pushing for the party to rest (though please remember, Warforged don't heal naturally, so resting won't return any HP.... also 'forged don't sleep).

IC: The cave is silent once more, Jehen's lamp the only source of light. Three openings face the group, but where to go first?

"I'm rather inclined to just pick a spot at random, but I'm sure someone else can make an educated guess rather than a shot in the dark. Any takers?" offers Raekz.

OOC: marching order... covering the rear, since Kaz is more heavy-duty than him.

Jehen crouched for a moment, rummaging in her pack for a few odds and ends. After a moment, she managed to find a length of spare cloth, and tied it as a rather dashing headscarf across the wound in her scalp. "If one of you can handle that lantern for a few moments, we can see about getting out of here before reinforcements show up- between the fight and our ringing the doorbell, as it were, everyone in the complex likely knows we've arrived. we can hope though, that it looks as if the bats were all we could handle an we retreated- leave the door open, and maybe one of you might make some bloodied footprints headed out..." Turning her attention to the passages before them, she began to scan the floor carefully for any signs of traffic- beyond the area of the fight itself there might be some signs of regular passage, and while she was no woodsman, her eyes and her instincts were quite keen.

OOC: okay, so it isn't quite the normal use of such skills, but we can try to improvise. Jehen is using her Search +10 and the Investigate feat to examine the passage area, beyond the actual fight (where our entry wouldn't have disturbed things). She doesn't have Track, but really, she isn't looking for a specific trail or footprints- she is just out to see which passage is used most often, or maybe most recently. She also has Trapfinding- still uses Search +10, but I figured those are the kind of rlls that the GM might want to make in secret, in addition to ruling on whether the improvised skill use idea works at all.

ooc; Kaz, sorry I forgot your action, see below.

IC: The burly hobgoblin, rolling the large blood soaked bodies of the bats over, is unable to find any loot on their bodies.

Jehen, moving further into the cave is able to determine a few things; 1st the middle tunnel is probably the most used, if the numerous marks and scuffs from footware are to be believed; 2nd that the tunnel on the left has very defined scrape marks, as if the same kind of object was pushed or pulled through the tunnel over and over; 3rd and finally that the tunnel on the right seems completely free of marks of any kind.

Jehen does not find any traps of any kind at any of the entrances to the tunnels.

ooc; your use of the skill in this situation is fine by me.
