"Looks like a dead end," Jehen finally admitted. "Anyone else have a vote for which other passage to try next?" Even as she spoke, she headed back out of the "stable" and towards the entrance.

"Where else? The other way then it is," concludes Raekz, as he heads out of the stables with Jehen. "Some nice clean water for my poor hands..."

The Group makes their way back out to the main entrance cave, having gone down the middle passage, they've yet to explore either of the smaller flanking passages.

Back at the entrance, Jehen took a few quick moments to make sure that there hadn't been any additional activity, then she looked over the two other passages. "Let's try this way," she said quietly- if the others seemed to agree, she set out down the chosen passage, staying near the side wall and keeping her senses focused on the way ahead.

OOC: If I remember right we left our abandoned halfling out front as a watcher- if he is still there, Jehen will assume nobody else has come by to check on our entrance. Based on earlier descriptions, one of the passages was more heavily used- the one on the left. That is Jehen's next choice of route.

Their halfling companion having kept himself entertained by juggling some rocks, the group finds no change in the large cave as they reenter. The hulking bodies of the bats lie where they fell and all seems as they left it.

Following Jehen, the group again sees this narrow corridor goes down 30' and then turns sharply to the left. The ceiling is just over 6' tall and not very wide; though two halflings could probably walk down it abreast.

ooc; actions? questions? are there only three of you now? ;)

"I wish they'd include maps or guides somewhere in dark smelly places like this. I don't want to bump into the toilet by mistake," remarks Raekz as he follows Jehen, guisarme still drawn in case of more expected trouble.

Jehen paced carefully down the passage, her senses attuned to any unusual details. They had, after all, very little room for error...

OOC: Just us three, I think. I don't suppose there is any way to "acquire" someone else- another fighter type, perhaps, or a cleric?

ooc; hmmmm, well I've yet to poke either of the PCs we've lost, have any of you contacted them? also I'm not sure if there's anyone available in the tavern (is there?). That said, I can NPC Kaz as needed, but my feeling is once the current scene has run it's course, there would be an opportunity to recruit 'additional support'. So let's keep the option open, but for now let's finish the current scene and see where we are.

IC:
The group carefully edges their way down the smaller rough cut tunnel, coming to the corner. Unable to detect neither sound, sight, nor scent of anything awry, Jehen pokes her head around the corner and sees the tunnel continues on for 10' before opening up into a smaller chamber.

From her vantage point, it looks like a barracks of some sort; she can glimpse many cots and a few wooden chests set before them. The chamber is devoid of any figures.

Perhaps most interesting though is a large standard spiked into the stone of the back wall; white cloth emblazoned with a compass circle, the cardinal directions in sharp relief, while in the middle is a single brilliant ruby red rose, it's petals in full bloom.
