What CRs? What codified Divine ranks? This was 2nd Edition. That campaign reached a satifactory conclusion before we even started play-testing 3E. :)

I wasn't complaining. I'm the one who set them up with their Divine Sparks. For more than half the campaign I had to keep track of what the PCs could do and what they were immune to as well as keep track of the NPCs because the characters didn't know they were divine. (Yes,I'm masochistic when I GM. :heh: )
Heh. :p That's way too much bookkeeping, I think. We set up a prestige class with Divine Spark (house rule feat) as a prerequisite. Still didn't balance right. It was obvious to my characters when they were divine because, y'know, they had temples and worshippers and stuff. And they joined a pantheon and hung out with people like Kord and Yondalla.

My characters started getting an inkling around the low to mid teens in level when they would survive things they shouldn't or random thoughts would cause things to happen. There weren't any gods in the world for them to consult with. Ancient cataclysmic conflict between the gods destroyed all the evil gods but one who was imprisoned by what was left of the good gods who then had to sequester themselves beyond the reach of the world. The campaign focused on discovering this history of the gods and then learning that they were chosen to become the next generation of gods in the new era as they had to prevent the Dark God from escaping his prison and overruning the world.

In that world, the divine spark was not tied to having worshippers. Eventually, the characters did acquire worshippers but that was because some of their divine exploits were witnessed. A couple of my players wanted to kill me the first time they received prayers from followers in the back of their minds. :D

Sounds dismal and horrible. I like it. :p

So, so wrong. But cool.

Lower Double-Digits for me.

The highest level character was close to reaching 15, but the others were clustered around levels 12-13... mostly because of multiple player deaths.

It's fun to see how the game changes during that time. It's not so fun watching the game become a daily slaughterfest for the PC's. Well, you gotta learn about high levels at some time.

I never ran anything past 10-12th level. For one thing it is too difficult for me to challenge a high level party, unless having a world where you meet uber villains, greater demons and most ancient dragons at every corner of the world. Nonetheless, since my next campaign will be heavily using Grim Tales (with a low magic world), I think it should be possible for me to run a campaign up to epic levels. However, my players or myself would have to not tire of the campaign before that...

The highest I ever got was average 26th, from a poorly conceived Forgotten Realms/Call of Cthulhu/Planar epic game. Absolutely insane, but fun. None of the characters in it, except for one NPC who was once my character before I DMed, progressed all the way from 1-27th, though. The highest range was the character who made it 1-22nd, but she went insane when her deep one heritage started to manifest...

Demiurge out.

If you mean whole campaigns, I think I've run only up to around level 10th, but I ran some single adventures up to 15th.

As a player, I've played about up to 15th as well.
