Recently tried out the minis game and it has me wondering...

Do use "squares" as a way to count out distances rather than "feet"?

We still use inches most of the time and think of squares in converted terms [square = 5']. Outdoor fight scenes are conducted with rulers, and indoor scenes usually take place on top of Master Maze or Hirst Arts ( and thus, squares).

I think this question is kinda confusing; what do you mean by squares? Are you referring to "my character moves 5 squares" or are you referring to using a square grid to play on?

Is that more clear or should I change it further?

We use miniatures and a square grid, but when we describe our actions it's always "I move ten feet" rather than "I move two squares".

i have gamed with a player of multiple systems who says "units"

"i move X units" because he said he was tired of being corrected between feet, yards, inches and such.

starships, fighters, planes and boats all moved "units" to him.
