Do you carry a pocketknife?

Man...that seems odd.

I associate the US with being pretty free and easy with weapons in the hand sof their citizenry.

Here in Canada, if you're knife has a blade under 5 inches in length and only has one edge, then it is perfectly legal for you to carry it. Just about everyone I know has one.

Handguns on the other hand...uh uh.

I believe the 5 inch rule is the same in the US. I don't know why someone would be fined for a swiss army knife...wierd.

I don't carry a pocket knife personally, but my boyfriend does. So I get to use a knife as though I carry one without having to do all of the pesky carrying. The two that he purchased himself are somewhere in the depth of his car right now, so he's taken to carrying his standard Army-issue Gerber.

My most recent use of the knife: Cutting wrapping paper in the car on the way to a last minute birthday party, then stabbing myself in the finger when we hit a pothole.

I believe that is for a concealed knife, ie. pocket knife etc...

If the blade is longer, you can carry it, but it cannot be hidden/concealed.

That's because here in Canada, there is always a slight chance we may have to fight off a bear. ;) Ok, probably not in Toronto, but everywhere else in the country.

I dunno about bears, but I had character that did get attacked by a rabbid wolf while in downtown T.O. :D

Seriously though, I've lived in Ontario, Quebec, New-Brunswick, Prince-Edward-Island and have gone camping in three of those and the only animal that's ever attacked me in the woods was a deranged partridge. While walking along a forest trail one early morning this thing jumped out onto the trail in front of me, stuck out its wings and charged me while warbling until it got within arm's reach and then ran around me in a half circle and kept going behind me. Damnedest thing I ever saw. I yelled out after it: "You missed." :D

OK, this sounds like a beer and pretzel story. Inquiring minds want to know.

when i was a teenager some buddies and i were roughhousing around. we were walking around the neighborhood and punching each other and then running kinda thing.

some lady was washing her 2 dobermans on her front lawn with a hose...

well they saw us and charged with teeth bared. we heard the lady yelling at her dogs to stop.

i pulled out my knife as i ran my 2 friends froze in place. the dogs ran by them and chased me.

the whole time the lady is screaming at them in german.

i stabbed them. they yelped and went back to her.
