I can and have done both in any system I own.

At least in 3rd Ed you don't have to be secretive like in Hackmaster. There it is a catwalk to balance knowledge.

I prefer DMing to playing 9 out of 10 times. . .

I have not played in a campaign that lasted more than 2 or 3 sessions since early 2000.

I would love to start running a second 3E game set in Aquerra. .. but time is a factor

I play in a Tuesday night game set in the Forgotten Realms.
I DM a Friday night game in my homebrew world (and my tuesday night DM is a player in my friday night game, so any necessary payback is quick and furious).
I am about to start DMing another session once a month on Saturdays.

The tuesday and friday night games are both long campaigns, with lots of continuity and long-range plotlines.

I decided to start the saturday sessions as monthly one-shots, to give everyone a chance to try out different races, classes, levels, etc... than they normally get a chance to during our more structured campaign games.

Over my history I have DM'd far more than I have played, which makes me want to play (since I seem to have no problem DM'ing), but if I had my choice I think I would like the split to be about 50/50.

After the better part of a lifetime as 90% DM/10% player, my fortunes have turned. I am now playing in my second D&D3 campaign, and still have not DM'd so much as a session.

Actually, I'm starting to miss it ... :(

I guess, in the campaign i'm in now we hardly get enough time to play anymore, let alone have two campaigns going.

Plus we live in different towns. So its only hardcore playing on the holidays.

But i've got the option of Dming, and if i don't, Kal vito will(after his assasin vine incident, i'm not so sure).

So I gotta Dm. The only problem being, that i'll be losing two players, and gaining two more, whom i'm not sure, would appreciate the work I would put into the game.
*shrug* Its good being DM, when you know you've got good appreciative gamers

Currently, 82% of respondents are DM's.

I knew the boards here were dominated by DM's, but i don't know if i would have guessed that big of majority.

I guess, DM's are the one's searching the pages of the internet, for useful information in their campaign. Thus more likely to be posting and reading the boards. I imagine the players come here less regularly.
