Do you regret the fact that you don't get to game as much as you would like?

Bad time to ask - gaming is always "off" during the summer months. In the last two months I've played once... so, yeah, I'd like to get in more, but I also like doing other stuff in the summer.

During the rest of the year, it averages about once a week, and I'm fine with that. But June-August kills me! (GenCon notwithstanding)

i don't game as much as i'd like, but i don't regret it.

it means i'm doing something else which is more important.

heck, i judged the ENnies this year. which was a blast. :D

I wish I could game more, but I'm living in the country right now, and nobody else in the region plays. A pity too, since I just finished writing a Steampunk campaign I desprately want to run.

I used to game more often than I do now, but I came to realize that gaming was becoming more like work and less like fun. I never had any time to do anything but go to work and go to games. I'd like to game more often, but in order for that to happen I'd either have to win the lottery and quit my job, or we'd have to suddenly start having 8-day weeks. :)

These days I wish, instead of for more games, for more meaningful games. I'm tired of games that only happen once a month or less, and games that have no continuing story. I've decided that if I can't play more often, at least I'd like to play with more focus.

I'd be happy with once a week. I don't think that I'd have time for anything more.

But currently it's more like once every other week. So, yeah, I'd like to game more often than I do.

Sadly, I only play once or twice a year now. As happens with many groups, mine is now scattered across several different states, and we only get to play when we get together in one spot (such as at GenCon, or in semi-regular visits). We've talked about getting different groups together- and have even tried to start an online game using Fantasy Grounds- but we just have been able to do so yet. Family, work, and other responsibilities definitely have an impact as one gets older.

Regret, nope. I've set my priorities and I'm good with them. If anything, I should play less. With a wife, three kids, and other assorted responsibilities, I can't justify gaming more, nor do I think I've chosen poorly. Thus, no regrets.

Lamenting, on the other hand, quite possibly. I'm one of the guys who could probably handle running one marathon session a week and playing in one or two others. Preferrably different systems. As I said before, though, it's a conscious choice.

Somewhat, I guess. But I have other things I can do that are fun too, and my time is limited... So I guess I'm on the fence for this one.

The Regret Index for this is pretty high as of now.

Why not start up the games in PbP? I've found that's a great way to play - currently I'm playing in Shackled City, Age of Worms, Red Hand of Doom, DCC #13 Crypt of the Devil Lich, Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil and soon to be Savage Tide.

Takes up a little time each day, and you get to play everything you want to! :D

Pinotage,

I had thought about PbP games, especially at the end of last year when I hadn't gamed for a couple of years and didn't have a gaming group. I just think that it would pale in comparison to face-to-face gaming. There are so many things that are much more difficult to do in PbP's. I also noticed that the drop-out rate can be quite high as well. Having said all that I haven't actually given one a go myself so I am just making assumptions! :o
