D&D (2024) Do you still feel that One D&D is "Compatible" with 5E?

Do you still feel that One D&D is "Compatible" with 5E?

  • Yup, still compatible. No issues with bringing in 5E Druids etc

  • Nope, perhaps some similarities but yeah it's too different for 5E stuff

Players IME are not inclined to intentionally take a weaker option. The playtest druid is garbage compared to the 2014 one, and I would feel dirty as a DM insisting on it.

But why would that even be an issue? Why would you...or anybody...possibly ever insist that a player use a prototype class from a playtest document? I mean, unless you were specifically playtesting?

I expect the 2024 druid to be very similar to what we just got. And I want nothing to do with it.

I mean, I'm not a current Druid player, it this one seemed about the same to me but unlikely to cause dreaded analysis paralyais?
Analysis paralysis is not my concern. Being able to turn into an animal that can actually do what that creature is capable of is.

I've seen too many people fall into trap options and get frustrated to not appreciate a streamlined take, similar to what Tasha's provided for the Beastmaster.
You're welcome to feel that way. To me, that's just more evidence that WotC is moving the game away from what I want.

But it is of long term value if WotC wants to keep selling the Rules Expansion box set for the next decade as a OneD&D set
I would expect there to be 1DD books that correspond to Xanathar/Tasha eventually.

which they have indicated is the entire point of Monsters of the Multiverse introducing OneD&D versions of almost every non-PHB Species and OneD&D Monster stats.
I can buy that book without the other two as well, chances are most people that play 1DD and do not yet have them will not get Xanathar or Tasha

that is not a concern of mine. I prefer the level based stat blocks over those of the monsters. Add some abilities if needed (good at climbing, able to fly, etc.) but the stat block does not need to be that of the monster
