Spoilers Doctor Who 2024 (spoilers)

By that reasoning in Dot and Bubble The Doctor should have just traveled forwards in time to when the Finetimers were desperate enough to accept his help (a few days at most) and save them then.
That would not have been remotely possible in the earlier episodes, when the steering on the TARDIS was "wonky" and he could never quite always get to exactly where and when he intended....

I kind of miss those days.

Yeah, perfect accuracy begs the question of why The Doctor doesn't do more to fix things when Fixed Points In Time aren't in play.

Or just having the TARDIS materialize around people, which shunts them into a room of the TARDIS's choice.

For the same reason that almost literally every episode of the various Star Trek properties isn't solved through the use of the transporter: Story.

At a certain point "Story" stops being an excuse and it just makes the writers look bad.

Edit: The fact nobody's arguing in favor of the plot and instead are just acting like any criticisms of the writing are inherently unreasonable says it all.

Gamers will optimize the drama out of stories just as much as they'll optimize the fun out of games.
It's not 'optimization' to point out there was no time limit, the Chuldur were safely contained, and since Rogue could push Ruby out there must have been something they could do (like replacing her with the Chulder she defeated).

Is there any complaint about a story's plot that would be valid to you?

You're not even arguing against my point:

"This soup has a fly in it."
"Gamers will try to optimize the flavor out of cooking."

"This house is poorly built."
"Gamers will try to optimize the beauty out of architecture."

"This dog has fleas."
"Gamers will try to optimize the survival instinct out of nature."

Alright, if that's the case then Rogue's not dead, just trapped in an empty dimension The Doctor somehow thought was better than being killed (which is another example of contrivance and OOC behavior from The Doctor, I'd believe it if he came up with a way to contain the Chulder as opposed to going for a fate worse than death since this Doctor has yet to show anything like that).

And the rest of the season should be The Doctor either searching through every dimension individually or looking for a way to find out which one since going right from "heartfelt declarations" to "And on to the next fun adventure, he'll get back to finding Rogue later" goes against The Doctor's characterization.

I hope you're right, it'd be a better move than "The Doctor gets a boyfriend who immediately gets banished forever."
there is the ring, the Doctor might use if to rig up a device that can trace Rogues psychic signature across dimensions - it might take a while (maybe even a couple of seasons) but no reason why Rogue cant eventually be found again
