Dodkong minions

Ok incorporated changes - also made create spectre distance 30 ft rather than 10 ft (as giant sized). added shadowy dodge and dropped last sentence.

contemplated adding something like the cambion's Fiendish Blessing.

say

Shadowy Blessing. The AC of the wraith is boosted by its Charisma bonus (which takes it to 15..?).

I also began a statblock for the nightcrawler - used purple worm as a starting point. Looking at other statblocks (and old material) over what to incorporate.

So fleshing out a campaign with a stone giant lich (the dodkong)....came up with the following...SG wight I have used...others are a WIP. Also in my world am using levels of exhaustion to simulate level drain of older editions. troglodytes I thought of as fun as the stench becomes necrotic and even more dangerous.

So if wight statblock is scaling up of commoner or lvl 1 character, then troglo-wight is stronger as a troglodyte is meatier than a human (was my idea). Hadn't yet added exhaustion and necrotic damage to them.

My idea is the dodkong converts recently dead victims (or victims with bodies) to wights, and "revives" ancient dead as wraiths...with vestigial memories. They in turn make zombies and spectres.
FYI, I made a stat block for the dodkong a few years back. The numbers are a bit off because it used my modified "5e epic rules," but it mostly works as is.

Sure, why not. Although if you're following the Monster Manual Cambion's lead it'd be "The AC of the stone giant wraith includes its Charisma bonus" rather than "boosted."

Although I'd rather it worked when the wraith is in darkness or dim light rather than all the time. Do you really want a "shadowy" defense to work in broad daylight?

So maybe:

Umbral Blessing. If the stone giant wraith is in darkness or dim light, it adds its Charisma bonus to its AC.

Umbral Blessing. The stone giant wraith adds its Charisma bonus to its AC when not exposed to sunlight.

That'd give it "Armor Class 13, 15 while in darkness or dim light" or "Armor Class 15, 13 while in sunlight".

For that matter, should its Shadowy Dodge reaction work in sunlight? What about bright light?

Will have a look at these later.

Are we doing our own version of the Dodkong on this thread? "Eventually."

Wow the crown....in my world, the Dodkong was a priest of Earth deity who became a warlock of shadowfell dark power (ravenloft creator, which in my world is Lilith as deity of isolation and emptiness) - so started looking at powers to reflect that. nice statblock. Will ponder all options...

I've decided to update my version of Dodkong, so if you want to share your thoughts I am happy to incorporate them into my redesign.

Yes - Umbral Blessing and Shadowy Dodge only working in dim light sounds appropriate

I can see Shadowy Dodge working in bright light provided it isn't daylight, based on the idea the giant wraith is temporarily creating a "shadow" that makes it appear to be moving somewhere else than it's actual dodge.

Yes, there's definitely a lot we can steal "borrow" if or when we start a Dodkong Homebrew on this thread.
