Does anyone else have a problem with D20 missile?

Don't forget that when sundering a bow, you don't necessarily have to destroy the wood (hardness 5, 5-10 hps) bow itself... You only have to break the bowstring (hardness 0, 1 hp).

Oh, and a good Soften Earth and Stone spell (2nd level for druids and earth domain), Stoneshape (Drd/Clr 3rd, Sor/Wiz 5th), Stone to Flesh (Sor/Wiz 6th), or Transmute Rock to Mud (Drd, Sor/Wiz 5th) will take care of that stone horse.

But then, why bother with the stone horse, when a standard spell or mundane weapon works just as well on the rider?

Occasionally, I have a problem with my missile, but we're not gonna talk about that.

Seriously though, you guys are doing a great job with this discussion. Personally, I don't see any serious problems with the ranged attack system in 3rd edition. The problems that do come up are so trivial that they're not even worth fixing.

Seems to work fine, IMO.

Sure the DM can screw you over whenever he wants. But sometimes if he does it you know he is doing it to screw you over, and not because it makes sense. Foes targeting something with a hardness of 10, when they have many other problems to deal with at least tends to show DMs trying to screw you over and not because it makes sense.

There are two possibilities:

1) even with a stone horse, it's still easier for your enemies to take down your horse than you.

2) with a stone horse, it's now easier to target you, as opposed to the horse.

Which would you prefer?
