Session 6 "Rainbow Race"

Yes, I do.

I do quite extensive prep for each session, usually about 4,000 words, so each of those prep files gets a title:

Session 1: The Valley North
Session 2: The Beast of the Mountain Beyond
Session 3: Elgi & the Temple
Session 4: Downtime in Lantern Hold
Session 5: Hearthmeet
Session 6: The Council of the Forge
Session 7: A Night of Burgarly
Session 8: Blood, Bone, Water, Fire, Salt
Session 9: The Lair of Pharesh
Session 10: To Kill a Tyrant
Session 11: The Archeomancer's Goblins
Session 12: Return to Lantern Hold
Session 13: Meeting Daresh Mazzarit
Session 14: The Sorcerer's Mansion pt.1
Session 15: The Sorcerer's Mansion pt.2
Session 16: The Last Day in Lantern Hold
Session 17: Voyage Across the Iron Sea
Session 18: The Cursewither Isles.

...to be continued.

I sometimes mention it to my players. Maybe I will start doing so more often, but some of the names would have contained spoilers, (like when they got ambushed by the Archeomancer's Goblins!)

When I'm disciplined enough to stash my notes and write a summary of the past session I do name the session for ease of navigating. Depending on the campaign, sometimes my players have access to it or not.

80. AN AUDIENCE WITH THE MATRIARCH

Looking over the list, you can see I like to revisit the same naming conventions when possible: I have adventures titled "An Audience with the _________" where I've filled in the blank with "King," "Queen," "Princess," "Successor," and "Matriarch" and I have named two separate adventures over the "friendly" type of chess game involved. It also shows my penchant for puns ("Bad Hare Day," "Ogre Eight," "Lake It or Not," "Snow Wight"), willingness to go for the rhyme when the opportunity presents itself ("Potion Commotion," "Troll Hole"), and occasional use of misdirection ("A Boring Little Adventure" involves boring beetles, "Getting Stoned" involves fighting stone giants who are under the effects of hallucinogenic spores, "In Over Your Heads" merely took place completely underwater).

If the adventure title is likely to give something away, I'll refrain from telling the players the name until after whatever potential spoiler is already discovered in the course of the adventure; otherwise, if it's innocuous I'll let them know the title right away (or most often at the end of the previous game session).

My current DM titles the each of the sessions we play (currently in Icewind Dale), and I also title our gaming sessions when I DM (usually Eberron setting). With the pulp feel of Eberron, it just seemed natural to me to title the sessions, like chapters in an old movie serial.

Likewise, in my "Dreams of Erthe" campaign we've advanced through the following adventures since I last posted:

8. Animal, Vegetable, and Mineral
9. No Bones About It
10. Deathbed
11. Farthingale's Fortunes
12. Underdark Dreams
13. Invasion from Afar
14. Middlewich Manor
15. Overnight Visitors
16. Forest Dreams
17. Down Among the Dead Men
18. Monkey Business
19. Dregs
20. The Missing Dreamer

I'm still exhibiting a penchant for the occasional bit of alliteration, a fondness for puns ("Deathbed" not only dealt with a dreamer on her deathbed but also a mimic in an inn disguised as a bed and killing people), and I've started up a new trend with "________ Dreams" (so far I've only used "Underdark" and "Forest" but upcoming adventures will add "Serpentine," "Desert," and "Elven" to the list).
