The most effective warriors in the fight against this type of idiocy are those that lead by example and don't bother to dignify the 1850s mentalities with their 2010s time.
There is room for academic debate about the fringe elements, but the second emotion enters the equation, you're better off showing people why inclusiveness results in a better world than trying to explain it to them. Be the lesson.
