D&D 5E Does the inclusion of these two gamers undo WOTC desire to be inclusive?

I have been reading various links on this and I have to say a lot is making me angry. Look I don't like Pundit very much I freely admit that I find him abrasive and I think he goes out of his way to stir the pot with the most obnoxious way he can. I read what he said about sexual harassment and his point was valid that the anti harassment policy written by the event was poorly written and vague. Sure he could have said it better but that is not his style which is why I tune him out usually.

But I could find no evidence of any kind nasty lets keep anyone but straight white males out of gaming. I will admit I find him calling people swine not to be very nice and I do think he can be some what rabid on opinions of games not OSR. Some of what he does does come across as edition warring. But he knows his stuff which is why WOTC asked for him to consult.

Unless you actually go on his blogs or his site how would you know what he says? Seriously how many female and LGBT gamers actually know who he is? I have found that many social justice types sometimes see things things in the worst possible light and in their crusade to make things more inclusive end up doing exactly the opposite and instead of making allies they make enemies. WOTC which makes the most well known RPG makes an effort to be more inclusive actually puts it into the game and here are people attacking them because of two consultant that I bet the majority of the gamers out there have never heard off. That right there makes me angry. It also seems to me that they are saying we want the game to be inclusive but that only means people we approve of. That does not sound very inclusive to me at all.

People have opinions I don't agree with on the internet = a regular day.

It is fascinating how advances in technology and the speed of communication affect how much we care about what other people think.

Every time I hear the term "cyber-bullying" I cannot help but giggle. Older generations are laughing at all of us for allowing ourselves to be injured by pixelated stones. If you find yourself caring too much about what some dingbat whom you have never met says online its time to disconnect from the matrix and get some fresh air.

This is article is unsubstantiated slander, which pretty much makes this a witch hunt. Let's just weigh them against a duck and move on.

Like I said, discuss the issues not the people, please. I don't want to have to close this thread; it's a subject worth discussing.

I am sorry. You are right we should keep our personal opinions to ourselves on the people in question and discuss the facts of what is going on.

Exactly. I disagree with Ben & Jerry's politics. But I love their ice cream. If they want to take their profits and donate them to causes I don't believe in...then God Bless them! I got ice cream. (a little bit of a dated example...but you get the point). If we go through life refusing to buy or participate in anything unless we are sure of the ideological purity of those who produced it...I think we'd live in a sad and boring world.

So true. Often people who champion "diversity" want anything but. Because they are actually attaching an agenda to the term.

True diversity means you're going to encounter a whole bunch of stuff that you don't agree with. But you're for including it anyway.

Here is what I have been thinking a about the whole separate the person from his art. Say a game designer online presence is rather sexist he doesn't want to play with women in his home games. He does not get the whole issue with stripper armor. But he is an excellent game designer and none of his prejudices are in his work. But because of his online persona major game companies are afraid to hire him because of fearing a backlash or coming across as not sensitive to female gamers. But not having his input has the effect of not giving us the best game we could have. That is what I see has one of the issues. Does everyone in the game design industry need to be likable?

I agree with this some what. I think it is one thing if you disagree with their politics or causes but don't find them morally objectionable but if you do and you don't want your money going to that cause I can see not buying the products. As a liberal I know many companies I do business with donate money to conservative politicians election I have no problem with that. I do have problem though if they donate money to organizations that support say oppressing LGBT people then I don't want to give them my money.

This is now an ice cream flame war thread.
