Doom of the Savage Kings

OOC:*swings back in* Yup, saw the spear and thought"That's it!"

Homer is too shaken to go further. He is quite very harmed. His wounds are many and he is looking quite pale - though the paleness might be from fright.

Hank looks about and says, "I don't thing we should go down yet. there is still passages to investigate."

Franko is lets go of Homer and says, "I am ready to go further."

OOC: GE, can you please clarify whether there are passages on the level we currently occupy? I've been envisioning the crawlspace to be overhead in the ceiling. I thought we'd explored all the passages on the burial chamber level and were ready to go downstairs. Scott's comment makes me think there are other passages on this level that we haven't checked out. If that's the case, Lizt would want to explore those first before going downstairs. She definitely does NOT want to go back into the crawlspace. It's too small for everyone else, I think. And bad things happened up there.

The worn stone steps descend into a circular cave walled by tall stone slabs inscribed with dark runes. In the center of the chamber is a collection of stones topped by a slab resembling a table or altar. Atop the slab is the skull of an enormous bear.

OOC: The three ways I mentioned before (stair down east, stair down west, and crawlspace up) are the only places left to explore. And your understanding of the crawlspace is pretty close. The crawlspace is in the space between the top of the door and the ceiling within the burial ante-chamber and spirals upwards with an additional hidden passage where the ghoul dropped down behind Homer and which Lizt crawled up. No other places. I've assumed you continue with your previously stated action of going down the stair with my IC post.

"There's nowhere else to go on this level, other than the stairs down. Well, except the crawlspace, and I'd sooner cut off my foot than go back up there." Lizt pointed at the narrow opening atop the door. "Besides, I don't think everyone can fit into the crawlspace. Too tight. C'mon, let's go explore down there. I think I see something large and skeletal on top of a stone table." Lizt prodded Alois to take the lead, then followed after him.

When they got down the stairs and into the circular cave, Lizt went over to the skull. She picked it up, and turned it over, examining it. Then she held out the skull to Gratien. "Some kind of animal? What is it, do you think?"

Gratien didn't touch the skull, but he looked closely at the jaw and the shape of the muzzle. "Bear. It's got carnivore teeth, but also back teeth for grinding." The Elf looked around the room, worried about the altar.

Homer's eyes become huge with fear at the mention of the crawlspace. But what Lizt says about NOT GOING back in, he settles down - some - and walks with the others, moving with pain through out his body.

Hank walks up to the alter, "may I see that. I remember scribing some books on the natural world of animals the other day."

Gratien, Lizt, and Hank stand near the altar and study the bear skull while the others are moving into the room. There is a faint scraping sound above the three and as they look up two human figures drop down into the area lit by flickering torchlight. One lands squarely on the altar and the top shifts slightly. The other drops down between the three and the door.

The two humans look sickly; their skin is grey and sags in unnatural ways. Worst of all are their eyes. Bright yellow, serpentine eyes stare at the group with alien intent. Lizt realizes that she recognizes the pair. The two are part of a trio, Stein, Kej, and Ilham, who left Hirot in search of treasures shortly before the Hound started plaguing the town.

The two ghouls slash claws at Hank and Gratien severely injuring both of the men.

Gratien bent over in pain as one of the pair of ghouls clawed an open wound in his belly. The Elf paled, then stepped backward and wove a spell in the air. A prism of color glittered in the air about his hand, then shot forward toward the ghouls. He aimed for both ghouls, if possible.

Alois attacked the ghoul closest to him. He jabbed at the thing with his polearm.

Lizt sucked in a started breath of air when she realized the ghouls were walking dead from town. Men she knew. Men she recognized. Her stomach twisted in fear. She dreaded what she was about to do, but she'd seen the way the ghoul in the crawlway had torn at Homer. These things were men no more; they were walking dead, and to be feared. Better to give them true death so that they would torment the living no more, so that they could find rest. She darted forward to aid Alois, slicing at a ghoul with her short sword.

Spell Check for Gratien [roll0] to cast color spray at the ghouls
Alois [roll1] with polearm; deed roll applied to both attack and damage [roll2]; and [roll3]
Lizt [roll4] with short sword; [roll5]

OOC: Don't forget, if your attack hits (as Alois' does) and your deed die roll is 3+ then you can perform a Mighty Deed. Essentially, allows you to perform some special combat maneuver or apply some hindering condition to the enemy.

OOC: You describe the action which strongly influences how I determine the mechanical effect. I'll tell you that effect so you can benefit from it in your next turn(s).
