Doom of the Savage Kings

Alois could feel the palpable twinge of Lizt's fear. He reacted. The burly man bunched up his shoulders and drove his polearm toward the nearest ghoul. He aimed to skewer the damned thing, and fling it to the side. If luck and brute force held, he'd manage to get his polearm through the second ghoul, too.

Gratien, Lizt, and Hank stand near the altar and study the bear skull while the others are moving into the room. There is a faint scraping sound above the three . . . . .

[sblock=GE]
T, are you trying to kill my characters? MEANIE!!

. . . . . and as they look up two human figures drop down into the area lit by flickering torchlight. One lands squarely on the altar and the top shifts slightly. The other drops down between the three and the door.

The two humans look sickly; their skin is grey and sags in unnatural ways. Worst of all are their eyes. Bright yellow, serpentine eyes stare at the group with alien intent.

The two ghouls slash claws at Hank and Gratien severely injuring both of the men.

[sblock=OOC]Party is up.

-expend a point of luck for hank-

or did they . . . . .A whisper of wind in the otherwise still and moisture heavy air. . . . . whispers of more then a fresh move of air, but carries what seems to be words, and suddenly

oops, supposed to have been a d4 not a d 6

[roll0]

though it is grotesque in appearance, it is still a welcome sight: A skeleton of a badger forms from the dust, then internal organs followed by strong muscles and finally skin! Hank orders the badger to attack!

Tender rushes forward to take the lead in the attack upon the undead. "Lads, get behind me before something bad happens to ye," he says to the less martial of the group as he engages the closest of the dangerous pair.

Gratien casts his spell and two prisms of colored light fly from his hand to the ghouls, one in front of him and one between him, Lizt and Hank, and the bulk of the group. Both ghouls collapse.

Alois catches one ghoul on his polearm and skewers it as it falls. Lizt manages to get a strike on the creature before Alois tosses it up against the wall where it falls to the ground twitching well away from the group. Damage done to its belly reveals the coil of a monstrous snake within the body of the ghoul. The second ghoul is too far away for Alois to catch with his maneuver.

Hank casts his spell and can feel it getting away from him. Burning a little of the universe's good will to him turns the struggle to control the magic in Hank's favor and a badger begins to form.

Franko isn't so lucky and his spell fails.

Tender rushes forward swinging at the ghoul as it topples from the altar... And promptly steps on something slick. With a clang Tender lands flat on his back, his arm flails and somehow he manages to stab himself.

Boral and Kurl cast spells but both fail.

The ghouls, and the monstrous snakes within them, are out by Gratien's spells for several long moments and helpless.

[sblock=OOC]Note: There are no attacks of opportunity but if you move out of melee combat your enemy gets a free attack on you. Therefore, it is better for Gratien to stay put and cast his spell than to step away and cast, which gives the ghoul a free attack. I'll assume he stays put and casts.
