Down with the negativity! Tell me what you like about 3E.

The funny thing is that I can't think of anything that really bothers me about d20 in the first place. I can't think of a single rule in the SRD that hurts my enjoyment of gaming (if it did, our group just wouldn't use it anyway, like we did with earlier versions of D&D). I enjoy third party and Wizards' "expansion" material, but I could just as easily and just as happily play with the just the SRD. When I DM, I can adjudicate situations not covered in the rules pretty easily just by sticking to the base mechanic of "roll a d20 and add an appropriate bonus." I think that's pretty cool.

But we weren't TALKING about other game systems, we were talking about D&D.

There truly is nothing new under the sun, but we were asked what we liked about 3E. You derided people who pointed out NO THAC0 as something they liked, and rather snidely to boot. I responded.

Well, if you read what the designers have written, you'll know that they don't consider it to be entirely innovative either. Tweet has outright said that 3e's stat bonus and mechanics system is largely derived from his work for Ars Magica. But if it's a good mechanic, there's certainly nothing wrong with using it again, either.
