It's already quite a long time since I last bought a D&D book... too many books are IMHO about the same stuff: feats+PrCl+spells+monsters. Monsters tend to be repetitive and less and less original every time. Feats and PrCl and Spells are fine, but how many do you get to play? Bothered about disposable dragons? I am rather bothered about disposable players characters, I want to play PCs from 1st level to hero-stardom, and as a DM I don't like killing PCs only to let the players write up a new one every month. In conclusion, I really think I would never use more than a couple of the PrCl from any book I may buy nowadays, maybe half a dozen feats and spells but that's it.
But anyway, I'd like to buy some nice books, something that would be nice to read "before falling asleep" like the Manual of the Planes, even if it is not very useful itself for gaming. Something with things other than mere stats... and so Draconomicon is in my list of candidates
together with Book of Vile Darkness + Book of Exalted Deeds (I either buy both or none). Because really I would never get to use the draconian PrCls
BTW, how's the Slayer's Guide to Dragons? I had taken a look long ago at a friend's Slayer's Guide collection, although he didn't have the only ones I would have liked to see really (Dragons, Orcs and Undead). The other ones were quite awful, except maybe the Troll one.
