Dragon Disciple

First Post
Hey all,

Can I borrow your brains for just a sec ? (No I'm no Illithid ! ;) )

I'm thinking of playing an Elf sorcerer with some Silver Dragon blood in his veins... who could later on develop into a (Silver) Dragon Disciple prestige class (TaB)..

And what I'm actually looking for is some insights and ideas to make this character interesting and well fleshed out...

How do you play this character ? What spells/feats/... to choose ? etc..

Some obvious examples : E.g. I was thinking of theming the spell selection into the "Cold" spells as per a silver dragon's breath weapon... and giving him silver hair and the likes..

Any input would be appreciated ! Thx. !!

Do you have access to Spells and Spellcraft? It has a nice little section on sorcerers and where they get their power.

Well, I'd go with spells that the Silver Dragon can do naturally like Feather fall.

A word to the wise, your spell selection should revolve heavily around close-quarter combat. Dragon Disciple limits your role as an artillery unit and significantly improves your warrior-esque efficiency.

For that reason, concentrate on spells that will only effect yourself. Start with high STR and high CON (tough, being an elf), and don't worry about CHA as long as it's above 13 (because your spell DC's won't come into play right?).

While the prereq's mean you can take the PrC as early as 6th level, go ahead and pick up the 6th level of sorceror to give you access to 3rd level spells. This will give you a broader range of spell selection at the levels you get Bonus Spells. But you'll have to have at least 13 CHA.

As for feats and whatnot, if you're going to develop into a combat machine (size large, lots of str and con, hit dice increase, and buff spells to boot), pick a goal and reach for it.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out!

First of all... Thanks for the replies...

Actually, I'm not really looking to build the most efficient Dragon Disciple... I just want to make a memorable and fun to play character ! :) (I know.. I should explain my ideas better and longer :P Sry for that..)

I was actually thinking of putting my worst score in Strength... (Explanation : An Elf that transforms into a Half-Dragon doesn't go overnight.. so I'll have him be of awkward build from first level. So his weak strength would actually be the result of his muscles and form warring between elf and Half-dragon form ...)

So I'd rather go for a physically weak character that evolves towards a physically normal character... (Also because from what I gather Silver Dragons tend to avoid fights if possible... solving their problems on other levels..) So he'd be a more brains, less brawl guy...

Off course he needs to a have a bit of offensive (spell)strength, otherwise the party will hate his guts ! ;)

The idea on Silver Dragon spells is indeed a good idea.. Polymorph self would be a natural choice for such a character..

Any more ideas/comments ?! Keep 'em comming plz !
