Drow - good for anything?

But the drow aggravate the issue when you try and give players a fun fight where they get to take actions against the enemy. If you run drow NPCs as they should fight, zoning based on light sources and darkvision, breaking initiative as much as possible for surprise rounds, you’ll get full CR value out of drow most of the time if only for the table time it takes to get the buggers. You’ll also get irked players.
