Drow items?

Question #1
In the good old days drow items use to self destruct when they left the underdark and hit a patch of sunlight. Did they do away with this?

Question #2
Also, even the lowest drow had +1 chain, +1 buckler, and a +1 short sword. Are these also gone?

Question #3

WHat is a good 3E way to give the drow's better equiptment? Masterwork? Mithral? Something else?

Thanks!

You're right, those characteristics are not universally given to 3rd Ed. drow elves.

Actually, I've written up a translation for those qualities for my conversion for module G3 which should be online in another week or two. For starters, I'll point out that 1st Ed. drow equipment was not mithral, it was described as "adamantine alloy steel".

Yeah, not mithral, adamantine. Forgot about that!

I never liked the as soon as it hits sunlight it desolves approach so how about this:

Drow items made of metal have a natural enhancement bonus of +2. If they are removed from the underdark for a significant period of time (say 1 week?) the metal weakens and becomes regular old masterwork quality.

That sound right?

Should this be in house rules?
