I didn't say they were playable, I'm interested in how these nuanced "beyond good or evil" orcs are different from the classic savage tribal stereotype orcs of D&D.

There isn't any, the game doesn't go into that kind of moral navel gazing.

You have Reaction checks, there is no mandated "kill em all" but Orcs are still presented as a potential foe.

It's that simple.

So they're just the same stereotypical orcs using the same coded language, but it's ok because they don't have an alignment in the statblock.

Right. I thought they were doing something interesting.
 




Replace orcs with kittens. Is everyone still perfectly happy to kill them on sight?

Elf has a statblock and so is just as killable.
