Druids Wildshaping Item Loss?

If I am a druid, and I wildshape - apparently your equipment merges into you.

Does this effect your "amulet of wisdom +4" for example? And therefore lower my wisdom causing a loss of bonus spells and lowering my will saving throw accordingly?

I assume it does - but im just trying to make sure because that really sucks if it does.

I think you have to play it by ear with what makes sense. For instance I'd say the amulet still works, but boots or gauntlets would not.

You would lose all benefits from an item when you wildshape. All items merge into your new form. There are a couple of ways to avoid it. First off is a Wilding Clasp - for 4000Gp, you can attach this iitem to an amulet, periapt, vest or similar item and it will not meld into you when you wildshape. There is also Wilding armor. This is a +3 enhancement bonus to armor which allows the armor to cover and protect your wildshape form.

I suggest looking at Masters of the Wild. It has a lot of Druid info and its Wildshpae information also supercedes the current PHB info. There used to be a link on wizards.com that had the new wildshaping rules

All items are merged into the new form. The only exception I'm aware of is the Wilding Clasp from MotW. So, be cautious using WS when fighting a high level mage using Disintegrate - it could cost the druid's life AND equipment !

If you take a shifter level, the item problem is removed, because you decide which item will remain functional and which not. The shifter prc (MotW) is really versatile and cool for combat and scouting. Drawback: no spell progression.

You know, in that case, I would probably rule the other way. I wouldn't be able to resist the mental image of a pinata.

Someone disintegrates a random animal and treasure explodes out of it. Heh...

 LOL :p

Remembers me of Diablo: Kill one of these nasty little kobolds and find a full plate or halberd within the corpse...

To the druid: unfortunately my DM followed the rules...*sigh*

:p Obviously if you wild shape into a big creature your neck might be so wide that the amulet chain either:

Stangles you to death

or

Snaps....

Most sensible ruling would be that druid doesn't gain benefits of the higher wisdom while wildshaped (lowered will save, spell DC and such) but doesn't lose spells prepared.

You know I love this line. Just how are an amulet, periapt or a vest similiar items? I suppose actual rules text (Items that take up slots x,y, or z) would be a bit much. *sigh* I thought cloaks were also on the list, I guess I'll have to go look again.

Hmmm... I'd never thought about that...

So what if a Wildshaping druid has his wisdom boosted by a periapt of wisdom... to the point where it gave him some extra bonus spells.

Now, if he has the ability to cast spells while wildshaping - suddenly no longer does he have those bonus spells, and the save DC and such for all his other spells goes down accordingly.

Then... what happens when he reverts back to his normal form? Does he get his bonus spells back, and are they still prepared, or are they lost?
